You can add videos remotely by using a cloud streaming service that accepts uploads from a phone or computer, or imports from connected storage, then schedules those videos for a YouTube broadcast. The key limitation is timing: adding videos while setting up a stream is not the same as editing its playlist after it is live. Check the service’s active-stream controls before relying on live additions.
Choose a cloud service that supports the workflow you need
For an actual 24/7 YouTube broadcast, OneStream Live documents a setup flow in its web and mobile apps: select videos from a device, OneStream storage, or connected cloud storage such as Google Drive or Dropbox, choose the YouTube channel, and schedule the broadcast. Upload and schedule videos remotely
- Sign in to the service’s web or mobile app. Use an account and plan that includes continuous streaming if you need a true 24/7 broadcast. OneStream lists Enterprise as the required tier for its 24/7 feature.
- Create the 24/7 stream or playlist. Confirm that you are creating continuous output, not simply scheduling one prerecorded event.
- Add the video files. Choose files from your device or, if supported, from the service library or a connected cloud account. OneStream documents device, OneStream storage, Google Drive, and Dropbox sources. - Arrange the content and check stream details. Review video order and confirm the correct YouTube channel and stream details before scheduling. Allow time for uploads to complete before setting the broadcast live.
- Schedule or start the broadcast. Check the selected service’s maximum duration and plan limits. OneStream’s documented maximum for a scheduled 24/7 broadcast is 30 days.
- If the stream is already live, check whether active editing is supported. Do not assume that an upload can be appended to an airing playlist. OneStream’s cited guide does not establish whether in-progress playlists can be edited; Restream explicitly says its playlist content can only be changed before it goes live.
Can you add a video from your phone?
Yes, when the provider’s app supports mobile upload or import. OneStream says videos can be selected in its mobile app as well as its web app. Restream also documents file uploads from mobile, but that workflow should not be mistaken for a continuous 24/7 playlist. Availability of cloud-storage integrations depends on the service and its current app controls.
What if the broadcast is already airing?
Verify the provider’s live-editing behavior before starting. OneStream documents selecting content during setup, but its guide does not say that a new file can be inserted into an active 24/7 playlist. Restream’s rule is clearer: playlist items can be added, removed, or rearranged only before airtime; while the playlist airs, its guide says only graphics and chat can be edited. Back-to-back Restream playlists are separate streams with a two-minute buffer, not one continuous editable playlist.

Restream’s playlist guide currently lists Marathon at $79/month with a 4-hour video library and 1080p maximum resolution, and Media at $239/month with a 12-hour video library and 4K maximum resolution. These are vendor-published, time-sensitive details; confirm plan terms and pricing before purchase. The same guide notes that sequential playlists are separate broadcasts with a two-minute buffer.
Why YouTube’s API and HLS are not upload shortcuts
YouTube’s Live Streaming API distinguishes the broadcast event from the incoming video signal: its resources and methods support creating, binding, updating, and managing broadcasts and streams. YouTube’s HLS ingestion guide is for developers sending media playlists and segments to YouTube, not for remotely adding a file through a simple video-library interface. It specifies muxed audio and video in M2TS, H.264 or HEVC video, AAC audio, closed GOP, and up to 60 fps. See YouTube’s HLS ingestion requirements.

- Confirm whether the service provides continuous 24/7 output or only scheduled prerecorded events.
- Check whether it accepts uploads from your device and imports from the cloud storage you use.
- Find out whether playlist edits are permitted after the stream starts.
- Check the duration, playlist-size, destination, and plan limits that apply to your account.
- Make sure you have the rights to stream every video and its audio. YouTube copyright obligations still apply to prerecorded content.
