Take a Seed of Mastery to Josée at the Justice Dojo in Jaune District. Give it to her to upgrade a move your Pokémon already knows into a Plus Move; the seed is consumed in the exchange.
How to use a Seed of Mastery
- Obtain a Seed of Mastery through gameplay.
- Go to Josée at the Justice Dojo in Jaune District.
- Choose a Pokémon and one of its existing moves, then exchange the seed to make that move a Plus Move. The seed does not teach a new move. Serebii’s item entry describes the item as upgrading a Pokémon’s moves.
How to use a Plus Move in battle
Plus Moves draw power from the Mega Ring. For a Pokémon that has not Mega-Evolved, press the + button before choosing the move, according to Game8’s Plus Moves guide. The available guide does not establish a universal damage multiplier or say which moves gain additional effects, so those details should not be assumed.
Where to find Seeds of Mastery
Serebii’s item listing reports these gameplay routes. They are listed sources, not guarantees of a particular drop rate or repeatability.
- Alpha Pokémon drops.
- Wild Zones 11, 14, 18, and 20.
- Jaune District’s Justice Dojo.
- Z-A Battle Club rank-up rewards.
- Defeating an Alpha Trainer in a Hyperspace Battle Zone.
- The Item Trader in Vert Sector 3.
- Side Missions 74, 98, 117, 121, 162, 187, and 200.
When the service becomes available
Game8’s Seed of Mastery guide places the Plus Moves unlock after Main Mission 9, “Chase That Mysterious Pokémon!”, when AZ gives you a Mega Ring. That is a broad unlock point for the mechanic; the source does not firmly establish that Josée’s service becomes available at that exact moment or identify a separate later mission, rank, or side mission as a prerequisite.

Are Seeds of Mastery a limited-time reward?
