One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchTo keep a YouTube livestream running around the clock, send a continuous encoded feed from a computer, hardware encoder or hosted service to YouTube Live Control Room. YouTube supplies the ingest address and stream key; your encoder supplies the video and audio. For prerecorded video, a cloud service can loop uploaded files without leaving a computer running at home.
Choose what “video server” means for your stream
A video server for YouTube can be a computer running encoder software, a standalone hardware encoder, or a hosted service that plays prerecorded video continuously. YouTube supports software and hardware encoder workflows, but its setup guidance does not specify a required server model or endorse a particular mini PC.
Choose based on what you are broadcasting. A live-produced show needs an encoder that can capture and encode its sources continuously. A prerecorded channel needs a dependable way to loop its files, keep the feed connected, and recover if the connection drops. Assess the workload, output format, operator access, monitoring and failover needs, plus bandwidth and hosting costs. There is no evidence-based universal server specification: requirements depend on the source and output settings.
Check channel eligibility before configuring a server
YouTube’s current general live-streaming guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. The stated minimum age for live streaming is 16. Enabling live streaming for the first time may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave activation until the day of your planned launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance and encoder setup instructions; the accessed help pages do not display publication dates.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Restrictions cannot be bypassed by broadcasting the same restricted creator’s content from another channel. Live content must comply with YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. Before using music, game footage, or other looped material, confirm you have the rights needed for the intended use.
Set up a computer or hardware encoder
- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create a stream or select one already configured for the broadcast.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key. Enter them in the corresponding server or encoder fields. A stream key functions like a password and address, as YouTube explains. Keep it private; if it is exposed, reset it in YouTube and replace it in the encoder.
- Choose the encoder’s output settings. Match them to your source, intended resolution and frame rate, encoder capabilities, and available upload connection. YouTube’s general live-encoder guidance includes H.264 and other codec options, constant bitrate (CBR), frame rates up to 60 fps, and a recommended two-second keyframe interval that should not exceed four seconds. Use settings supported by both your encoder and the chosen YouTube ingest protocol; there is no single bitrate or resolution established for every workload in the available guidance. See YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrates.
- Select the ingest protocol. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingestion. HLS is a separate option documented for cases such as HDR or codecs that RTMP does not support. HLS requires its own segment and transport settings and has higher latency than continuous RTMP transmission. Follow YouTube’s protocol guidance and HLS-specific setup requirements rather than assuming the protocols are interchangeable.
- Start the encoder and verify the incoming preview. Wait for YouTube to receive the feed, inspect audio and video in Live Control Room, and check the viewer-facing page before relying on the stream.
- Test the full operating plan. If you have a backup encoder, test failover in advance. Check that any local recording is being written correctly and monitor picture and sound continuously. YouTube’s live-streaming tips recommend advance setup, preview checks and ongoing monitoring.
Plan for a true 24/7 broadcast
Do not treat a 24-hour session as a guaranteed archive
YouTube says, “All streams under 12 hours will be automatically archived.” Its guidance does not promise a complete archive for a single stream longer than 12 hours. If keeping the full program matters, plan shorter sessions and/or maintain a separate local recording; do not assume one uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast will be preserved in full.

Keep the feed and recovery path observable
A continuous stream needs someone or something to notice when video, audio, network connectivity or the encoder fails. Set up before launch, confirm the preview, watch the local recording as it grows, and test available backup-encoder failover. A server or encoder alone does not establish an uptime guarantee; none is specified in YouTube’s cited guidance.
Budget according to your own workload
The right compute capacity, upstream bandwidth and hosting cost depend on the selected source, resolution, frame rate and encoder. YouTube’s general setup guidance does not size a server or establish a universal upload-speed target. Measure the actual feed and connection you plan to use, and account for the cost of keeping a machine, network connection or hosted environment available continuously.
