What DLAA changes compared with DLSS Super Resolution
DLSS Super Resolution renders the game internally at a lower resolution, then reconstructs an image closer to the output resolution. That usually trades some image detail for a substantial performance improvement.

DLAA uses the same general AI-assisted anti-aliasing approach at the display’s native rendering resolution. It is intended primarily to reduce jagged edges, shimmering, and other aliasing artifacts without making upscaling the main performance technique. The result can look cleaner than the game’s conventional anti-aliasing, but DLAA generally costs more GPU performance than an equivalent DLSS performance mode.
DLSSTweaks does not replace the game renderer. It modifies an existing NVIDIA DLSS setup and can expose options such as:
- Forcing DLAA in a DLSS-compatible title.
- Changing DLSS internal scaling ratios.
- Adjusting certain DLSS 3.1 presets.
- Overriding the DLSS version used by a game, where the title and wrapper support the change.
Before you begin: compatibility and safety
Do not treat DLSSTweaks as safe for online games. The project documentation warns that its hook works in a way that can resemble hooks used by cheats and may be detected by anti-cheat systems. Do not use it in multiplayer or competitive games unless you have independently confirmed that the game’s developer and current anti-cheat environment permit it. There is no universal ban-free guarantee.

- A compatible GeForce RTX graphics card and current NVIDIA driver support.
- A game that already implements NVIDIA DLSS Super Resolution, not merely a game that uses another upscaler such as FSR or XeSS.
- The current DLSSTweaks files from the project’s present distribution rather than an old archive copied from a forum post.
- Access to the game’s installation folder and permission to create a backup.
- A single-player or offline test environment whenever possible.
Compatibility is title-specific. Check the game’s own graphics settings, the current DLSSTweaks compatibility information and release notes, and NVIDIA’s current RTX/DLSS support list. NVIDIA’s list distinguishes features implemented natively by a game from features made available through NVIDIA app overrides, so a title may have native DLAA, app-enabled DLAA, native DLSS without a listed DLAA path, or no relevant support at all.
Game updates, changes to anti-cheat systems, updated DLSS DLLs, and changes in the NVIDIA app can all break a previously working setup. A successful result in one title does not prove that the same files or method will work in another.
How to force DLAA with DLSSTweaks
The exact wrapper filename and loading method can vary by game and by DLSSTweaks release. Use the current project instructions for the files supplied with your version. The following is the typical workflow described by the project’s distribution instructions.
1. Back up the original files
Close the game and launcher. Before changing anything, copy the original DLSS-related files and any configuration files you plan to modify to a separate folder. Record the game’s installation path and, if you use cloud saves or custom settings, consider backing up those separately.

A small USB flash drive or portable external SSD can be useful for storing a rollback copy, but neither is required to run DLSSTweaks. The important part is having an untouched copy outside the folder you are about to modify.

2. Download the current DLSSTweaks distribution
Obtain the archive from the current DLSSTweaks project repository or its current Nexus Mods listing. Do not assume that a filename from an older guide is still correct. Releases can change their wrapper files, configuration behavior, supported games, and workarounds.
3. Find the actual game executable
Extract the archive next to the game’s executable—not automatically next to a desktop shortcut, launcher, or game-save folder. If you are unsure which executable starts the game, launch it, open Task Manager, locate the running process, and use its file-location option where available.
Some games load DLLs from a different location or use an arrangement that requires a different wrapper filename. DLSSTweaks’ configuration tool may help you select a suitable filename. Do not copy files into multiple directories at random; that makes rollback and troubleshooting harder.
4. Open the configuration tool
Run the DLSSTweaks configuration utility supplied with the archive. Select the game or executable configuration if the tool presents that choice, then enable the setting named ForceDLAA or its current equivalent.
Save the configuration. If you also change a DLSS scaling ratio, preset, or DLL version, change one variable at a time so you can identify which setting caused a problem.
5. Launch the game and verify the result
Start the game in the same way you normally do and check its graphics settings and the rendered image. A title may continue to display a DLSS label even when DLSSTweaks is forcing a different internal behavior, so the menu text alone is not always proof that DLAA is active.
Look for dlsstweaks.log beside the game executable. The log should indicate whether the wrapper loaded and can provide a useful starting point if the game crashes or the image does not change. If there is no log, first confirm that you placed the files beside the correct executable and used the appropriate wrapper filename for that title.
When the wrapper does not load
Some games use DLL-loading or executable arrangements that need an alternate wrapper filename. Consult the current DLSSTweaks instructions for that title rather than assuming the same filename works everywhere.

Older or particular loading methods may also require the NVIDIA signature-override registry change included with the distribution. This is an advanced, conditional workaround—not a routine Windows optimization.
Do not make the registry change casually. Before applying it, record the original state, create a restore or rollback plan, and confirm that the current project instructions specifically require it for your game and loading method. Do not use a generic registry cleaner to make the change for you.
If you do apply the conditional change, keep the instructions and original state with your backup. Reverse it when uninstalling, according to the current DLSSTweaks documentation. Registry behavior and required values can change between releases, so an old step-by-step guide may be unsafe or simply irrelevant to your version.

DLSSTweaks is not the only way to access a DLAA-style override. NVIDIA documents DLSS Override features in the NVIDIA app. In supported games and applications, the app’s Super Resolution override can enable DLAA or other internal-resolution modes without using a third-party wrapper.
The first-party route is generally the better starting point when it is available because it avoids adding a third-party hook to the game’s installation. It still has requirements: compatible GeForce RTX hardware, supported drivers and NVIDIA app behavior, and a title included in NVIDIA’s supported compatibility path. Availability can change with app versions, drivers, and game updates.

How to remove DLSSTweaks and restore the game
- Exit the game and its launcher.
- Use the backup to restore any original DLLs or configuration files that were replaced or moved.
- Remove the DLSSTweaks wrapper, configuration files, and related files from beside the game executable.
- Reverse any conditional NVIDIA signature-override registry change using the documented rollback procedure.
- Launch the game without the wrapper and confirm that it starts normally.
- If the game uses a launcher with file verification, run its verify or repair function after your manual backup is complete.
If a game update has replaced the modified files, do not simply copy an old wrapper back into the folder. Recheck the current DLSSTweaks release and compatibility notes first.

The game crashes immediately
- Remove the wrapper files and restore the originals to confirm that DLSSTweaks is the cause.
- Check whether the game or launcher updated recently.
- Verify that the files are beside the correct executable.
- Try the title’s documented alternate wrapper filename.
- Check
dlsstweaks.logfor a loading or DLL error. - Do not add the registry workaround unless the current instructions require it for this specific loading method.
There is no visible change
- Confirm that the game already uses DLSS Super Resolution and that DLSS is enabled in its settings.
- Confirm that
ForceDLAAwas saved for the correct executable. - Check the log to see whether the wrapper loaded.
- Compare native-resolution DLAA with a DLSS mode in the same scene, preferably with camera movement and fine geometry where shimmering is easy to see.
- Remember that DLAA changes anti-aliasing behavior; it does not guarantee a dramatic visual difference in every game.
The game reports that a file is missing or fails after an update
Restore the original files or use the launcher’s file-verification feature, then check the current DLSSTweaks compatibility information. A new game executable, anti-cheat update, or DLSS implementation may require a new release or may make the tweak unsuitable. Do not assume that reinstalling a generic PC optimizer will repair a title-specific wrapper problem.
The title has no DLSS option
DLSSTweaks cannot normally add DLSS to a game that never implemented a compatible NVIDIA DLSS integration. Check whether the game supports another upscaler or whether NVIDIA’s current app compatibility list provides a first-party option, but do not expect DLSSTweaks to turn an unrelated anti-aliasing system into DLAA.

Is forcing DLAA worth it?
It can be worthwhile when a DLSS-supported single-player game has distracting aliasing or shimmering and your GPU has enough performance headroom at native resolution. It is less attractive when you are already GPU-limited, because DLSS Super Resolution may deliver a much higher frame rate with an acceptable image.
Choose based on the game and target resolution rather than buying a particular graphics card solely for this tweak. A compatible GeForce RTX graphics card is an enabling requirement for DLSS and DLAA features, but the appropriate model depends on the game, resolution, ray-tracing settings, desired frame rate, and local pricing. RTX compatibility by itself does not guarantee that every title will work with DLSSTweaks.
A high-refresh-rate monitor can make higher frame rates more noticeable, but it does not enable DLAA and is not part of the installation. DLSSTweaks is best understood as an advanced configuration wrapper for games that already support DLSS—not a tool that adds DLAA to any game. Check native DLAA and NVIDIA app DLSS Override first, back up the game, test only in an offline or single-player environment, verify the dlsstweaks.log, and be prepared to remove the wrapper after a game or anti-cheat update. When the title is compatible and the GPU has enough headroom, forcing DLAA can improve image stability at the cost of the performance benefit that ordinary DLSS upscaling provides.
