Pokémon already lets players open two booster packs per day at no cost, with no Points or purchase required.
Open your free daily packs first
Pokémon’s official guide says you can choose a booster pack to open at no cost every 12 hours, which amounts to two packs per day. The game’s official listing and support FAQ also describe two daily packs at no cost. You do not need to buy Poké Gold or redeem Play Points to use this allowance. Pokémon’s guide to collecting cards and using Wonder Picks explains the pack-opening cycle.
Check whether Play Points can help with another purchase
Google Play Points are loyalty rewards, not an in-game currency. Google says they can be redeemed for in-app or in-game items, coupons for qualifying purchases, Google Play credit, or partner vouchers. A Pokémon TCG Pocket-specific reward may appear for some accounts, but Google’s documentation describes developer promotions as an available feature—not a promise that a Pocket offer is currently live for every player.
- Make sure Pokémon TCG Pocket was downloaded through Google Play on the Android device and account you use for the game.
- Open the Google Play Store app and tap your profile picture.
- Tap Play Points, then Use.
- Look for a Pocket item, a qualifying coupon, Play credit, or a relevant partner voucher. The available rewards and terms depend on what Google shows for your account.
- Select a reward and follow its conditions. A coupon applies to a qualifying in-app purchase when its requirements are met; it does not create a pack by itself. Points-exchanged Play credit and coupons expire after one year, according to Google Play Help.
If you redeem Play credit rather than a Pocket-specific item, it may be usable toward eligible Google Play purchases. The final checkout screen determines whether the credit or coupon applies; do not assume a reward covers a particular purchase amount before checking its terms.

What “free packs” means in practice
| Route | Does it require a purchase? | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Daily pack allowance | No | Two packs per day at no cost, with one pack available every 12 hours, according to Pokémon’s official guide and game information. |
| Google Play Points reward | Not necessarily, but a coupon may require a qualifying purchase | Only use a Pocket reward, coupon, credit, or voucher if it appears in your account and its terms fit your intended purchase. Google does not guarantee a Pocket-specific offer for every user. |
Keep the game’s currencies separate
- Google Play Points are rewards in the Play Store. You exchange them for listed rewards; they are not spendable in-game currency.
- Google Play credit is a payment balance that may be used for eligible Google Play purchases. Pokémon says Android purchases for Pocket go through the app store from which the game was downloaded, which is Google Play for a game installed there. See the Pokémon purchase and Premium Pass FAQ.
- Poké Gold is Pocket’s in-game currency. Pokémon says up to 720 Poké Gold per day can be used to shorten pack-opening waits; the daily limit resets at 6:00 a.m. UTC. It is separate from Google Play Points. See the Pokémon TCG Pocket Gameplay FAQ.
- Pack Points are earned by opening packs and are tied to an expansion. They do not expire, but they are not Google Play rewards and cannot be treated as a general Play Store balance.
If no Pocket offer appears
There may be no relevant reward available to your account at that moment. Google Play Points catalogs and offers can vary by country, account, and promotion. You can still use Pocket’s no-cost daily packs without redeeming Points, and check the Play Store’s Use section again if you want to see whether the catalog changes.
