Where hydraulics are available
Hydraulics are a lowrider customization feature associated with Benny’s Original Motor Works in GTA Online. Rockstar’s description of the GTA Online: Lowriders update says, “Give your ride lift with hydraulics – the more powerful the pumps, the higher you can bounce.” Rockstar’s update description establishes the lifting and bouncing effect; it does not provide a numeric lift height.

This guide concerns GTA Online. The cited material does not establish hydraulics as a feature in Story Mode.
Get hydraulics installed
- Use GTA Online. The hydraulics and Benny’s conversion information discussed here applies to Online.
- Take a vehicle to Benny’s Original Motor Works. Start the vehicle customization flow and check the options available for that specific vehicle. Rockstar’s historical Lowriders update notes describe Benny’s Custom conversions and explain that certain stock vehicles can be converted without purchasing another copy of the stock vehicle.
- Check whether conversion and hydraulics are offered. Benny’s options are vehicle-specific; not every car is eligible. Rockstar Support notes that some vehicle categories cannot be modified. If the option is absent, check the current in-game menu rather than assuming the car can be converted. Rockstar Support’s vehicle modification eligibility guidance was last updated April 17, 2024.
- Choose the hydraulics option shown for the vehicle. The menu is the reliable place to verify availability and see its current displayed pump level and cost. Exact current prices and a complete, up-to-date compatibility list are not established here.
How to make a lowrider bounce
After installation, get into the vehicle and use the hydraulic input. A third-party tutorial reports holding X on PlayStation or A on Xbox to activate hydraulics, then moving the analog stick to direct the car’s movement: the tutorial’s control demonstration. Treat that as a common mapping, not a universal control chart. Follow the on-screen prompt in your game, particularly on PC or with customized controls.

Hydraulics lift and bounce the car. Rockstar says more powerful pumps allow a higher bounce, but does not specify exact heights or a universal sequence for particular wheel poses.

If hydraulics or the controls are missing
- Benny’s does not show a conversion: Confirm you are in GTA Online and check another eligible vehicle. Modification availability depends on the vehicle; see Rockstar Support’s eligibility guidance.
- The hydraulics option is not listed: Check the options for that particular vehicle in Benny’s. Do not rely on an unverified universal compatibility list.
- X or A does not work: Use the control prompt displayed in-game and inspect the current platform control settings. The reported mapping may not match your platform, keyboard layout, version, or custom bindings.
