To add an NDI feed in XSplit Broadcaster, open Add Source > Video/Network Stream, then select the feed from the list. NDI brings video and audio over a local network, so the sending application or device and Broadcaster need to be discoverable in that network workflow.
What NDI does in XSplit Broadcaster
NDI (Network Device Interface) lets compatible applications and devices send video sources over an IP network. In Broadcaster, you can receive a feed from another Broadcaster instance or an NDI-enabled application and add it to a scene. Broadcaster can also send its completed production out over NDI to compatible software or devices on the network.
Receiving a source and sending your production are separate workflows: the first adds an incoming feed to a scene; the second makes the finished Broadcaster output available elsewhere on the network. XSplit describes NDI as supporting both sending and receiving video and audio over a local network. See XSplit’s NDI product page.
Add an NDI feed to a scene

Make the source available on the local network. It can be another Broadcaster instance or an NDI-enabled application or device. XSplit’s setup guidance does not specify exact ports, firewall rules, or a version compatibility matrix, so check the relevant software or device documentation if the sender does not appear.

In Broadcaster, open Add Source > Video/Network Stream.

Select the NDI stream you want from the list. The feed should then appear as a source in the current scene.

Arrange and size the source in the scene as needed, just as you would with other visual sources.
If no stream is listed, first confirm that the sender is active and that both sides are part of the intended local-network workflow. The cited XSplit instructions do not establish a universal network configuration or troubleshooting rule for every firewall or router.

Choose how the NDI source handles audio
NDI source audio can be routed as System Sound or Stream Only. XSplit documents System Sound as the default; which option is appropriate depends on your production’s audio routing needs. Check your scene and intended output after choosing, especially if you are mixing the NDI feed with other audio sources.
Reduce stutter or desynchronization
If an NDI feed stutters or its audio and video become desynchronized, try changing the source quality setting to Standard. XSplit says this mode receives audio and video at lower bandwidth. It is a practical stability trade-off to test when the current feed is unreliable; the cited guidance does not give numeric bitrate or image-quality figures for the setting.

Local NDI bandwidth depends on the feed and setup, but XSplit’s source guidance does not publish a measured bandwidth requirement for ordinary local NDI sources. Avoid treating remote-guest planning estimates as a general local-NDI target.

If your goal is to send the finished Broadcaster production to another compatible application or device on the network, use Broadcaster’s NDI output workflow rather than adding an incoming NDI source. XSplit confirms that Broadcaster can output its production as an NDI stream; consult XSplit’s NDI information for its current product guidance.

Local NDI versus remote guests
Local NDI and a remote-guest service are not interchangeable. XSplit’s NDI Remote article says that service is offline and under review, and points readers seeking remote guests to VDO.Ninja. Its article was updated 08/08/2025; service availability can change, so check XSplit’s NDI Remote article for current status before planning around it.
Optional network connection note
A wired Ethernet connection may be useful in a local-network setup, but XSplit’s instructions do not require wired Ethernet or a particular cable category. Choose network equipment based on your existing setup and its documented needs rather than assuming a Cat6 cable is mandatory.
