Yes—PlayStation VR2 can be used on a Windows PC officially. You need Sony’s PlayStation VR2 PC Adapter, a direct DisplayPort 1.4 connection, USB 3.0, Bluetooth for the Sense controllers, Steam, SteamVR, and Sony’s free PlayStation VR2 App. This guide covers the official setup, compatibility checks, missing PS5 features, and common fixes.

What you can do with PS VR2 on PC
On PC, PS VR2 works with compatible SteamVR games. You can use the headset and PS VR2 Sense controllers, create a play area, adjust resolution and motion smoothing, change controller bindings, update firmware, and manually activate the headset’s see-through view.
You cannot normally access the PS5 version of a PS VR2 game simply because you own it on PlayStation. The game needs its own Windows or SteamVR release, and PC purchases are generally separate.

PS VR2 versus the original PlayStation VR
- PS VR2: officially supported on Windows through the PlayStation VR2 PC Adapter.
- Original PS VR: has no equivalent official Sony PC workflow. Third-party software such as iVRy may provide a SteamVR path, but it requires a different, more complicated setup and is not native Sony support.
What does not work on PC?
PC support expands the library, but it does not reproduce every PS5 feature. Sony says these PS5 features are unavailable through the official PC integration:

Check PC compatibility before buying the adapter
Sony lists these minimum requirements for the official PC setup:
- Operating system: Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11 64-bit.
- Processor: Intel Core i5-7600 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100, or better.
- Memory: 8 GB RAM or more.
- Graphics: compatible NVIDIA GTX 1650 or newer, or AMD Radeon RX 5500XT/RX 6500XT or newer, subject to Sony’s architecture and output requirements.
- Recommended graphics: NVIDIA RTX 3060 or newer, or AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT or newer.
- Video output: a dedicated DisplayPort 1.4 or Mini DisplayPort output from compatible graphics hardware.
- USB: a direct USB 3.0 Type-A port.
- Controllers: Bluetooth 4.0 or later.
A graphics card that meets the name-based requirement is not automatically sufficient. The PC must expose a compatible physical DisplayPort connection. On a desktop, connect the adapter to the DisplayPort socket on the graphics card—not the motherboard.

Does PS VR2 work with a laptop?
Sometimes. A laptop must have a compatible physical DisplayPort output and meet Sony’s GPU requirements. Sony’s official requirements do not support DisplayPort over USB-C for this adapter, so do not assume that a USB-C-to-DisplayPort cable, dock, or hub will work.
Hybrid-graphics laptops can also route their physical video output through an integrated GPU instead of the discrete GPU. Check the exact laptop specifications and which GPU controls the DisplayPort socket before buying.

- PlayStation VR2 headset.
- Sony PlayStation VR2 PC Adapter.
- The adapter’s supplied power supply and power cord.
- A DisplayPort 1.4 cable, sold separately.
- A direct USB 3.0 Type-A connection to the PC.
- Bluetooth 4.0 or later for the two Sense controllers.
- Headphones or earbuds, unless you plan to use another supported PC audio arrangement.
- Steam, SteamVR, and the free PlayStation VR2 App.
Use a standard DisplayPort 1.4 cable connected directly to the PC. Sony warns against USB hubs, extension cables, USB-C DisplayPort paths, and unsupported display adapters for the official connection.
Install the required software
- Install the Steam client and sign in.
- Install SteamVR from Steam.
- Install Sony’s PlayStation VR2 App from Steam.
- Install the latest graphics-card driver. If a newly released driver causes detection or rendering problems, testing an earlier driver can help.
- Charge both Sense controllers before pairing them.
- Clear a safe play area and turn on even room lighting.
How to connect PS VR2 to a PC
Use this connection order:
- Plug the PC Adapter into a direct USB 3.0 Type-A port on the PC.
- Connect the adapter to the PC’s dedicated DisplayPort output using a DisplayPort 1.4 cable.
- Connect the supplied power adapter and power cord to the PC Adapter and an outlet.
- Connect the PS VR2 headset’s USB-C cable to the PC Adapter.
- Press the headset’s power button.
- Wait for the adapter and headset indicators to become solid white.
- Open the PlayStation VR2 App and complete its setup instructions.
The adapter light is a useful first diagnostic:
- Solid red: the adapter has power, but the headset is not connected.
- Solid white: the adapter is on and the headset is connected.
- Off: the adapter is not powered.
Pair the PS VR2 Sense controllers
- Turn on Bluetooth in Windows.
- Disconnect USB cables from both controllers.
- On the left controller, hold PS + Create until its indicator blinks.
- In Windows Bluetooth settings, choose the left controller and pair it.
- On the right controller, hold PS + Options until its indicator blinks.
- Pair the right controller separately in Windows.
If a controller does not appear, charge it, remove old controller entries from Windows Bluetooth settings, disconnect its USB cable, and enter pairing mode again. Some Bluetooth adapters may not be compatible, and USB 3.0 interference or nearby metal can reduce reliability.
Set up the play area
- Follow the room-scanning instructions in the PlayStation VR2 App.
- Set the floor height accurately.
- Choose a stationary or room-scale play area appropriate for the room.
- Keep the area clear of furniture and obstacles.
Bright, even indoor lighting generally helps inside-out tracking. Avoid direct sunlight, reflective surfaces, and very dark rooms.

PC behavior differs from PS5 behavior: the headset does not automatically switch to see-through mode when you leave the boundary. Press the headset’s function button to activate the see-through view manually.
To reset the forward direction, press and hold the right controller’s Options button.
Launch SteamVR games
- Open SteamVR after the PlayStation VR2 App has detected the headset.
- Press the PS button on either Sense controller to open the SteamVR dashboard.
- Select a compatible SteamVR game.
- If the controls are wrong or incomplete, open SteamVR controller bindings and select or create a suitable layout.
For better performance, lower SteamVR’s Render Resolution, reduce demanding in-game graphics settings, or temporarily disable Motion Smoothing as a diagnostic test. Basic screenshots are supported through the PC integration, but video clips are not.
Troubleshooting

| Black screen | Reseat both cables, verify DisplayPort 1.4, restart the PC first and the headset second, and remove docks or display converters from the connection. |
| Controllers are missing | Remove old Windows Bluetooth pairings, disconnect USB cables, charge the controllers, pair each one separately, and restart SteamVR. |
| SteamVR reports a direct-mode problem | Open SteamVR > Settings > Developer and check Enable Direct Mode. |
| Tracking is poor | Improve room lighting, avoid direct sunlight, clear reflective or cluttered areas, and run play-area setup again. |
| Games stutter or run at a low frame rate | Lower SteamVR Render Resolution, disable Motion Smoothing temporarily, close GPU-heavy programs, use the discrete GPU, and reduce in-game graphics settings. |
| Boundary is incorrect | Open the SteamVR dashboard, select the PS VR2 icon, then choose Go to Play Area Setup for PS VR2 > Play Area. Clear the play-area data and scan again if necessary. |
Connection failures and performance failures are different problems. A red adapter light or missing headset points to cables, ports, power, drivers, or hardware. Stutter after SteamVR launches usually points to rendering settings, GPU routing, drivers, or the game itself.

The official Sony adapter is the best default for a PS VR2 owner who wants the least experimental setup. It works with Sony’s PlayStation VR2 App, firmware updates, play-area tools, and Sense-controller workflow. iVRy’s PSVR2 driver is an unofficial alternative. It may interest advanced users, especially those experimenting with hardware outside Sony’s adapter, but its Steam listing describes the PSVR2 edition as beta software and identifies limitations involving Sense-controller support, haptics, eye tracking, and play-space setup. Connection requirements can also involve specialized adapters or compatible hardware.
For the original PS VR, iVRy may be one of the available third-party routes, but the original headset uses a different processor-unit and tracking arrangement. It is not a plug-and-play equivalent to Sony’s PS VR2 PC support.
Is PS VR2 worth using on PC?
It is a practical upgrade for an existing PS VR2 owner who has a compatible Windows PC and wants access to SteamVR games. The official adapter keeps the setup relatively straightforward, but you must supply the correct DisplayPort cable and Bluetooth, and you lose several PS5-specific features.
It is a less compelling choice if you are buying a headset solely for PC, lack a compatible dedicated DisplayPort output, use a laptop with uncertain GPU routing, or consider HDR, eye tracking, adaptive triggers, advanced haptics, or wireless operation essential. The adapter expands PS VR2’s game options; it does not turn the PS5 library into a PC library.
