Add sv_enforceGameBuild to your FiveM server’s startup configuration to tell connecting clients which GTA V build’s downloadable content (DLC) the server uses. Put the convar in server.cfg, pass it as an FXServer +set argument, or enter that argument in txAdmin, then perform a complete stop and start. The value is read at startup, not while the server is running.
Choose the build from FiveM’s official server-command table. For example, build 2,189 corresponds to The Contract’s h4 content, 3,095 to mp2023_02 (The Chop Shop), and 3,751 to A Safehouse in the Hills. A newer build contains the content of earlier builds, but a higher number can expose compatibility problems in custom clothing, maps, or vehicles, so test the target build before changing a busy server.

What sv_enforceGameBuild actually controls
sv_enforceGameBuild is a startup convar for FXServer. Its value is a GTA V build number that the server advertises to connecting clients. FiveM then loads the DLC associated with that build on the server, allowing resources to use content that was introduced in that GTA Online update.
The setting does not install a separate GTA V executable. The client still runs its latest stable game-build executable; the enforced value determines which DLC content is available to the session. This distinction matters when diagnosing a mismatch: a player can have a current game installation while the server intentionally exposes an older DLC set.

If you omit the convar, FiveM uses base build 1604. That baseline may be adequate for resources designed around older content, but it will not make later DLC assets available. Setting a build is therefore a content-compatibility decision, not a general performance switch.
What the convar does not do
- It does not change an already-running server. The value is read during process startup.
- It is not a universal crash fix. A build change can leave a map, vehicle, or clothing resource incompatible.
- It does not prove that a claimed security improvement exists. No official source currently documents a security benefit for this setting.
- It does not force every resource to support the selected DLC. Resources still need valid files, manifests, and scripts for the content they reference.
Pick a build number from the official table
Use the official FiveM server-commands documentation as the authority when numbers disagree between community posts, hosting panels, and resource readme files. Build labels and their associated DLC can change as new GTA V updates arrive, so check the live table immediately before a production change.

| 3788 | Not listed in the official table | Do not select solely because a forum post mentions it; no official table entry lists it for this DLC |
The table is ordered by build number, and each newer build includes the content from earlier builds. That means a server needing the content represented by 2,189 can generally select a later table entry, but “later” is not automatically “safer.” Every additional update is another compatibility variable for custom assets.
How to choose for a new server
- List the DLC assets your resources actually require: clothing components, vehicle models, map interiors, weapons, or scripts that reference a particular update.
- Find the smallest official build that contains those assets. Choosing the minimum compatible value limits the amount of change introduced at once.
- Check resource documentation for explicit build requirements, but resolve the number against the official table if the two sources conflict.
- Clone the production configuration in a test instance and connect with the same client and resource collection your players use.
- Only promote the value after testing joins, character creation, clothing menus, vehicle spawning, interiors, and other content your server depends on.
Why community numbers can be different
Community threads sometimes assign a number to a security update or use a nearby build interchangeably. One forum discussion mentions build 3788 as an unnamed security update dated March 17, 2026 and says that 3,717 and 3,751 can be used interchangeably for A Safehouse in the Hills. The official table does not list 3,788 and lists 3,751 for that DLC. Because no official reference lists 3,788, treat 3,751 as the documented choice and do not switch to 3,788 merely to follow that post.
Set the value in server.cfg
The configuration-file method is easiest to audit because the selected build sits alongside the rest of the server’s startup settings.

- Stop the server and make a backup copy of
server.cfg. Keep the backup outside any automated panel overwrite process. - Open the file used by the instance you intend to change. Panels can expose more than one configuration, so confirm that it is the file executed by the production FXServer process.
- Add one line with the chosen number, for example:
sv_enforceGameBuild 3095. - Save the file without quotation marks around the number. Keep only one authoritative
sv_enforceGameBuildline; duplicate lines create ambiguity for whoever maintains the file. - Fully stop the FXServer process, wait for it to exit, and start it again. A reload, resource restart, or reconnecting players without restarting the process does not apply this convar.
Keep the line near other global server settings and add a comment that records why the number was selected, such as the DLC required by a resource. A short change note makes a later rollback less error-prone, especially when a hosting panel regenerates configuration files.

The comment is optional; the active setting is the unquoted convar line. Do not append a DLC name as a second value.
Set it with an FXServer +set launch argument
FXServer accepts the same convar at process launch. This is useful when a startup script, container definition, or service manager owns the command line and the server configuration is generated elsewhere.
FXServer +set sv_enforceGameBuild 3095
Use the executable and other arguments required by your installation, but preserve the +set, convar name, and numeric value exactly. If your launch script already passes a value, change that value rather than adding a second one in another layer.
Using txAdmin
- Open the server in txAdmin.
- Go to Settings > FXServer > Additional arguments.
- Add
+set sv_enforceGameBuild 3095to the additional-arguments field. - Save the setting and perform a complete stop followed by start from the panel.
The exact field is an argument string, so retain the leading plus sign. If the panel also offers a dedicated game-build control, use one method consistently and remove conflicting values from the other.

Hosting-panel game-build fields
Some game-server panels expose a Game Build field under startup settings instead of asking you to edit server.cfg. Enter the number there only if the panel documents that field as the equivalent of sv_enforceGameBuild. After saving, inspect the generated startup arguments or configuration when possible and then carry out the panel’s full restart. A panel field that merely selects a GTA V branch for the host machine is not necessarily the FiveM convar, so verify its description before relying on it.
Restart and confirm the change
Because the convar is startup-only, the reliable sequence is stop, wait for the process to exit, then start. Do not use only a resource restart, a script reload, or a soft reconnect. If your panel has separate “restart resources” and “restart server” actions, select the server action.
After startup, connect with a client that has the same resource set used in production. Verification should be functional rather than based on a guessed console message:
- Join the server with a normal player account.
- Open the resource’s clothing or vehicle menus and exercise the assets that motivated the build change.
- Enter custom interiors and maps, including streamed IPLs or MLOs if your server uses them.
- Spawn vehicles and test their models, handling scripts, liveries, and related extras.
- Watch the client and server logs while performing those actions for repeatable crashes or missing-asset errors.
Record the selected number, the date, the resources tested, and the result in your deployment notes. This gives you a known-good rollback point when a future resource update changes the compatibility picture.
Compatibility risks and a safe rollout
Custom clothing packs
Build enforcement can expose incompatibilities in custom clothing. A forum report describes a crash after enforcing build 2612. That report is evidence of a possible failure mode, not proof that every clothing pack fails on 2612 or on any other build. If clothing is central to your server, test male and female freemode components, overlays, props, and character save/load flows before production.

If the test instance crashes after the change, return to the last known-good build, confirm that the crash disappears, and then isolate the clothing resource. Re-enable resources in groups or one at a time; do not assume that changing to the highest available build will cure the fault.
Maps, vehicles, and scripts
Resources that stream models or reference DLC collections can fail in different ways: a map may load with missing geometry, a vehicle may refuse to spawn, or a script may receive an invalid model. Test the complete player path rather than checking only that the server starts. A clean boot does not establish that every streamed asset is compatible.
Client population and mixed versions
The enforced value describes the session’s DLC set, while the client executable remains its latest stable build. Explain that distinction to players who report that their local game is “newer”; a current executable does not mean the server should expose every newer DLC asset. Keep the server’s resources and documentation aligned with the one build you selected.

The server behaves as if the setting is absent
- Check spelling: the convar is
sv_enforceGameBuild, with the exact capitalization shown. - Confirm that the value is a number and that the line is not commented out.
- Verify that you edited the configuration actually loaded by this FXServer instance.
- Search startup arguments for another
+set sv_enforceGameBuildvalue supplied by a panel, container, or service file. - Perform the required full stop/start after correcting the value.
Players crash when joining or using new assets
- Reproduce on a staging server with the same client build and resources.
- Temporarily return to the previous known-good value to determine whether enforcement is the trigger.
- Disable recently added clothing, vehicle, or map packs in isolation.
- Check the resource author’s documented build requirement against the official table.
- Keep the lower build if the resource set works there; a higher value is not a universal fix.
The number is missing from a panel or documentation
Use the official table’s number in server.cfg or the +set argument instead of guessing from a forum label. If a panel has not added a new build to its dropdown, its raw startup-argument field may still accept the documented value. If neither route is available, ask the panel provider how its Game Build field maps to FiveM’s convar before changing production.
A later update changes the recommended number
Do not overwrite a working configuration immediately. First compare the new official table entry with the DLC actually used by your resources, then test it in staging. Keep the prior value in your change record so a rollback is a single edit. The official table should take precedence over an unverified community claim, including claims about unnamed security updates.

- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.

Common questions
Can I change sv_enforceGameBuild without taking the server offline?
No. The convar is read only at startup, so changing the file or panel value requires a complete server stop and start before clients receive the new DLC selection.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Should I always use the newest build?
No. Use the lowest official build that contains the content your resources need. Newer builds include earlier content, but they can introduce compatibility issues in custom assets.
Does the setting downgrade a player’s GTA V installation?
No. The client continues to run its latest stable game-build executable. The server’s enforced number controls which DLC content is loaded for that session.
Is build 3788 the correct value for A Safehouse in the Hills?
The official table lists 3751 for that DLC. A forum post mentions 3788 and says 3717 and 3751 are interchangeable, but 3788 is absent from the official table and no official source confirms it. Use the documented 3751 value unless an authoritative update changes the table.
Will enforcing a build fix a crash?
Not reliably. Enforcement can cause crashes, including a reported custom-clothing crash after build 2612, and it can expose map or vehicle incompatibilities. Reproduce, isolate the resource, and roll back to the last known-good build when necessary.
