To make a Geometry Dash level, open Create, start a new level, set its basic options, build a short playable section, and playtest it before adding extensive decoration. Then choose music and share the finished level if you want others to play it. The official Geometry Dash Editor Guide covers the editor’s basic tools and advanced features; check it for control-by-control instructions, since controls may change between game updates.
Start a new level
- From the main menu, open Create.
- Choose the option to create a new level from the local custom-level list.
- Open the level in the editor. If you are new to the interface, use the official 2.2 Editor Guide as a reference; its contents include Getting Started and the editor’s core tools.
The guide describes the editor as a way to create custom levels, but it is written for update 2.2. If you are playing a later version, confirm any control or menu details in the game.
Set the level’s basics before building
Decide the level’s basic settings and starting conditions before laying out a long section. The guide has a Level Settings chapter, but the retrieved material does not establish every current setting or its exact control. Consult that chapter and verify the options shown in your game.
Build a short, playable section
Place gameplay objects first
Use the object-placement tools to build a brief section of gameplay. Focus on a route you can actually play through before spending time on visual polish. A short first section makes it easier to spot layout or timing problems early.

Edit, color, and remove objects
Once objects are in place, use the editor’s object-editing tools to adjust their properties and colors. Delete mistakes as you find them rather than letting them accumulate. The official guide has separate sections for Placing Objects, Editing Objects, Select Color, and Deleting Objects.
For more specialized changes, the guide also includes Scaling & Warping and Other Buttons. Its contents identify these features but do not provide enough detail here to state their exact current controls; use the relevant guide sections or in-game help.

Choose music
Use the song-selection options to choose music for the level. The guide covers the starting song, Newgrounds, and the Music Library. Song availability and applicable music rules are not established here, so check the choices and any relevant requirements in the game before settling on a track.
Playtest and revise
- Start a playtest of the section you have built.
- Check that the route is playable and that its timing feels right.
- Return to the editor to adjust or delete objects where needed.
- Test the revised section again before extending the level or decorating it heavily.
The guide’s contents confirm the relevant editing and deletion tools, but not every button mapping. Refer to its instructions or the game’s help for exact inputs, especially if your version differs from 2.2.

Share the level—and understand rating expectations
When you are ready, use the game’s sharing options to make the level available to others. Sharing does not guarantee a rating. The Geometry Dash FAQ says that contacting an in-game Advisor or Moderator who can send a level to RobTop increases its chances of being rated; it does not promise that the level will receive one.

A community reference reports that the editor is available in the full game and that PC keybind display behavior was as described in version 2.2081.
