How to Use the Schedule I Calculator to Maximise Your Profits

Build better Schedule I recipes by tracking ingredient order, costs, effects, margins and in-game verification instead of trusting a headline profit alone.

The Schedule I calculator is a fan-made planning tool for the video game Schedule I. Select a base product, add ingredients in order, and compare estimated selling price, ingredient cost, profit, margin, effects and addiction before you commit in-game resources. Treat every result as an estimate: the basic calculator simplifies some of the game’s order-dependent rules, so verify a promising recipe in your current game version before producing a large batch.

What the Schedule I calculator actually calculates

The basic browser calculator runs locally from an HTML file and supports up to eight substances. It lets you choose a base product and build a recipe one ingredient at a time, then reports the resulting effects, total ingredient cost, estimated sale price, profit, profit margin and addiction value.

The separate Nexus desktop utility (version 2.0.1, updated 25 April 2025) expands the workflow with recipe creation, ingredient quantities, automatic cost and margin calculations, save-file importing and an online database. Neither tool is an official product from the game’s developer; they are community utilities.

Use this workflow before making a batch

  1. Choose your base product. Start with the product that fits your current stock, customers and production plan rather than automatically choosing the highest-priced option.
  2. Add ingredients one at a time. Preserve the exact order you intend to use. In the full game, order can change transformations and final effects. The basic implementation does not reproduce every complex, order-dependent interaction.
  3. Read every output. Record total ingredient cost, estimated selling price, net profit, profit margin, effects and addiction or other downside values shown by the tool.
  4. Compare alternatives. Test several ingredient orders and quantities, not just the recipe with the largest displayed sale price.
  5. Check practical constraints. Reject recipes that use ingredients you cannot reliably buy, produce unwanted effects or addiction, exceed your available stock, or depend on rules your calculator may not model.
  6. Verify in the game. Make a small test batch in the current version of Schedule I. Only scale up after the in-game result matches the calculator closely enough for your risk tolerance.

How profit and price are estimated

Insider Gaming publishes the formula Final Price = Base Price * (1 + total effect multiplier). Its listed base prices are Weed $35, Meth $70 and Cocaine $150. The calculator applies its own effect and cost data to estimate a selling price; these figures are not guaranteed payouts in every game version or situation.

Cocaine $150 Use as the starting value before the calculator’s effect multiplier.

For decision-making, calculate net profit = estimated selling price − total ingredient cost. Also inspect the margin, because a recipe can have a large dollar profit while tying up far more cash in ingredients than a smaller, repeatable mix.

What makes a recipe genuinely profitable?

Net profit

Net profit is the money left after ingredient costs. It is the most direct measure of how much a completed sale adds to your funds, but it says nothing about how much capital or stock the recipe consumes.

Profit margin

Margin helps compare capital efficiency. Prefer a recipe with a lower headline profit when it requires dramatically less spending, is easier to restock or can be produced more frequently.

Effect value and reliability

Effects drive the estimated multiplier, but more effects are not automatically better. A high-value combination that depends on a fragile order interaction is less useful than a slightly weaker recipe that behaves consistently in your current version.

Availability and downside

Include purchase cost, travel or restocking constraints, addiction and any other negative values displayed by the calculator. A theoretical optimum is not practical if one ingredient is unavailable when you need to produce.

Reverse-calculator and database strategies

If you know the effect you want, use a reverse calculator to search for ingredient combinations that reach that target instead of testing every recipe manually. Best-mix databases can provide starting candidates, while community recipe lists help reveal alternatives when your preferred ingredient is scarce.

Use those results as shortlists, not instructions to produce blindly. Re-enter the recipe yourself, confirm the ingredient order and quantities, and test it in-game. Database entries and calculator logic can change as the game changes.

Published presets: useful starting points, not guarantees

The community wiki lists example presets including a Best Cocaine Mix with a displayed profit of $543, a Practical Meth Mix at $232 and a Quick OG Kush Mix at $70. These are calculator presets tied to the tool’s data and version; they are not guaranteed earnings in your save.

Why calculator results can disagree with the game

  • Simplified rules: the basic README says it does not implement the complex, order-dependent interactions found in the full game or advanced calculators.
  • Version changes: ingredient effects, prices or recipes may change when the game or community database is updated.
  • Different datasets: desktop utilities, web calculators and databases may use different effect tables or assumptions.
  • Rounding and quantities: displayed prices and costs may be rounded, while in-game values can reflect exact quantities or hidden rules.

When a result looks unusually strong, reproduce the order and quantities exactly, then test a small in-game batch before investing heavily.

How much confidence should you place in “best mix” claims?

Several publishers describe large searches of the recipe space, but their counts do not agree. Insider Gaming reports 119 million simulated combinations and 725 manually tested mixes. A Schedule1Calculator GitHub guide reports 119 million combinations and 752 hand-verified recipes, while schedule1calculator.net reports 119 million combinations and 752 hand-tested recipes. Attribute those figures to the named publisher rather than treating one number as independently verified.

A large search can identify candidates, but it cannot guarantee that a recipe remains optimal after a game update, that every ingredient is available in your save, or that the basic calculator models the same order interactions as the game.

A practical comparison checklist

  • Is the base product appropriate for your current customer and stock strategy?
  • Is the exact ingredient order recorded?
  • What are the total ingredient cost and estimated sale price?
  • What is the net profit after all ingredient costs?
  • What is the profit margin compared with your other options?
  • Are the effects valuable and acceptable for your customers?
  • Does the recipe create excessive addiction or another displayed downside?
  • Can you buy every ingredient consistently at the stated cost?
  • Does the result match a small in-game test in your current version?

Recommended way to scale production

  1. Use the calculator or database to identify two or three candidates.
  2. Run each candidate with the exact order and quantities you plan to use.
  3. Choose the best option that balances net profit, margin, availability and downside rather than the highest sale price alone.
  4. Produce a small test batch in-game and compare its effects, price and costs with the estimate.
  5. Keep a note of the verified recipe and the game version. Recheck it after major updates or whenever an ingredient behaves differently.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Schedule I calculator official?

No. The available calculators are community-made tools, and the basic version expressly warns that its simplified rules may differ from the full game.

Should I always choose the recipe with the highest selling price?

No. Compare net profit and profit margin with ingredient availability, effects, addiction and confidence that the recipe matches your current game rules.

Why does my in-game result differ from the calculator?

The basic calculator omits some complex, order-dependent interactions, and tools may use different datasets or older values. Test the exact recipe in your current game version.
