Unlock the Smelter through Selenian Corporation progression, build it with 100 Basic Building Material, then connect an Ore Excavator to it with Rail and ensure the production network has power. Its basic recipes turn Titanium Ore into Titanium Bars and Wolfram Ore into Wolfram Bars; Calcium Blocks require a separate Recipe Station unlock.
Unlock and build the Smelter
The Smelter is part of Selenian Corporation progression and costs 100 Basic Building Material to construct, according to the MetaForge building database. The available references do not consistently establish an exact Corporation level requirement, so check the current Corporate Terminal and the Smelter tooltip for the live prerequisite.
Set up an ore-to-Smelter production line
- Place an Ore Excavator. Put it on a deposit of the ore you want to process.
- Connect the machines with Rail. Link the Ore Excavator to the Smelter so ore can move into production. The early chain is Ore Excavator → Rail → Smelter, as outlined in the StarRupture beginner’s guide.
- Connect the line to power. Rails, platform foundations, and bridges conduct power. Make sure the generator and production machinery are joined by a continuous network, with enough generation for the full load. A generator placed beside an Ore Excavator does not power it by proximity alone; see PC Gamer’s power-connection guide.
- Choose a recipe in the Smelter. Select Titanium Bar or Wolfram Bar for the basic recipes. Calcium Block appears only after its separate unlock.
- Move the output onward. Connect another Rail to carry refined items to storage or a Fabricator. The Fabricator can use bars in later component production, including rods, sheets, wire, and plates.
Smelter recipes and listed output
The database entries agree on the recipe quantities and cycle time. The listed output assumes continuous full uptime, not interruptions or shortages in a particular factory.

MetaForge lists the Smelter’s power draw as 5 MW. These figures come from fan-maintained databases, so check the current in-game tooltip and Recipe Station for patch-specific values. A line’s actual output depends on uninterrupted ore delivery, adequate power, and space for output. The references do not establish a universal extractor-to-Smelter ratio; size the line around the deposit’s supply, transport, power budget, and what the next manufacturing step consumes.

Unlock the Calcium Block recipe
Calcium is not available just because the Smelter is built. The current indexed MetaForge entry lists the unlock as contributing 1,000 Calcium Ore at the Recipe Station. A separate recipe reference warns that unlock costs can vary by source or version, so use the in-game station’s displayed requirement as the deciding value.

Fix common Smelter problems
- The Smelter will not run: Confirm that ore is reaching it, the machinery is connected to the power network, and generation covers the network’s load. Nearby placement alone does not connect power to an Ore Excavator.
- Calcium Block is missing: Check the Recipe Station and contribute the displayed Calcium Ore amount to unlock the recipe.
- Output is below 60 per minute: That is the listed maximum for continuous full uptime. Check for gaps in ore delivery or insufficient power before assuming the recipe cadence is different.
- You cannot find the progression requirement: Check the current Corporate Terminal and building tooltip; an exact Selenian level is not consistently established in the available database references.
