In Minecraft Bedrock Edition, enter /tp @p 100 50 100 in a command block to teleport the nearest player to those coordinates. Replace the numbers with your destination. Use an explicit target such as @p or @a; Microsoft notes that /tp @s ... does not work in a command block.

Enter a basic teleport command

Open the command block’s command field and enter the command with the destination coordinates:

/tp @p 100 50 100

In this Bedrock example, @p selects the nearest player and the three numbers specify the destination’s X, Y, and Z coordinates. Replace them with the location you want. The command is also available as /teleport; /tp is its alias. See Microsoft’s Popular Commands reference.

Choose the target intentionally

  • @p targets the nearest player.
  • @a targets all players, so a command that uses it can teleport everyone when activated.
  • You can use a player name when you want to specify someone directly.

A command block has no player as its command executor, so do not substitute @s as the target. Microsoft documents this command-block limitation in its Bedrock command examples.

Teleport a player to another entity

You can use a destination entity instead of coordinates. For example, /tp Steve Alex teleports Steve to Alex. The destination selector must resolve to exactly one entity; if it could match several, constrain it so only one is selected. The Bedrock Popular Commands page documents this form.

Understand relative coordinates

Coordinates with tildes, such as ~ ~5 ~, are relative to the command’s execution position. A command block runs from the block’s position, not from the nearest player’s position. Therefore, a command such as /tp @p ~ ~5 ~ uses the command block as its coordinate reference.

To move the nearest player five blocks upward from that player’s current position, set the execution context to the player before running the teleport:

/execute as @p at @s run tp @s ~ ~5 ~

Here, as @p makes the selected player the executor, and at @s uses that player’s position. Microsoft explains these context controls in its Bedrock execute command documentation, which includes a similar teleport example.

Prevent teleporting into blocks

The optional checkForBlocks argument is false by default. Set it to true to prevent the teleport if blocks occupy the destination. For example:

/tp Steve 50 63 50 true

This option checks the destination before teleporting; consult Microsoft’s command reference for the documented syntax.

Set up and troubleshoot the command block

  1. Make sure commands are permitted. Bedrock’s teleport command reference lists cheats as required.
  2. Enter an explicit target. Use @p, @a, a player name, or another appropriate target—not @s in the command block.
  3. Configure activation for your setup. Set the block’s activation and operating mode as needed. If it runs repeatedly, constrain the target and conditions so it does not keep teleporting players.
  4. Check the coordinate reference. If tilde coordinates are relative to the block rather than the player, use an execute context such as /execute as @p at @s run tp @s ~ ~5 ~.
  5. Make entity destinations unambiguous. A destination selector must identify one entity.

Edition scope

The syntax and command-block caveats above are documented for Minecraft Bedrock Edition. Do not assume they apply unchanged to Java Edition or every game version; check the command reference for the edition and version you play.
