You don’t transfer a Fortnite save file from Switch to PS5. Instead, link the Nintendo and PlayStation accounts to the same Epic Games account—the one that has the Switch progress you want—then launch Fortnite on PS5 using that PlayStation account. Your linked account’s progress and most purchased content should be available; V-Bucks are an exception.
Before you link accounts, choose which progress to keep
Fortnite progress belongs to the Epic Games account where it was earned. If your Switch and PS5 progress are associated with different Epic accounts, linking accounts will not combine those histories. Epic says separate Epic accounts cannot be merged, and support cannot merge Fortnite progress between them.

First identify the Epic account that holds the Switch progress you want to use. If you have progress on both platforms, decide which account’s history matters most before changing any links. Linking the PSN account to the Epic account with your Switch progress gives you access to that account’s progress; it does not add the other account’s progress.

Link your Switch Fortnite account to PS5
- Sign in to Epic using the Nintendo account. Go to Epic Games sign-in and choose the Nintendo sign-in option. Verify that the Epic account shown is the one with the desired Switch progress before changing account links. If you are unsure which account the Switch uses, Epic’s cross-device sync instructions explain how to identify and link platform accounts.
- Open Epic account settings and select Linked accounts. Choose the option to link a PlayStation account, then complete the on-screen PlayStation sign-in and confirmation steps. Link the PSN account you plan to use on the PS5. Epic allows only one account of each platform type to be linked to an Epic account at a time.
- Start Fortnite on PS5. Make sure the console is signed in to the same PSN account you just linked, then launch Fortnite. It should load the progress attached to the linked Epic account.
Epic’s general cross-platform guidance says progress and purchased content are available on platforms linked to the same Epic account, with V-Bucks excepted.

What transfers—and what does not
- Fortnite progress: The progress saved to the shared Epic account is available on linked platforms.
- Most purchased content: Epic says content purchased on linked platforms is accessible across them, subject to the V-Bucks exception.
- V-Bucks: Epic’s cross-platform statement excludes V-Bucks, so do not assume the balance will appear or transfer in the same way on PS5.
- Progress from a different Epic account: It does not join the shared account. Epic says accounts cannot be merged; its account-merging guidance also lists items such as V-Bucks, in-game items and cosmetics, Epic Games Store purchases, and friends lists as things that cannot be transferred between accounts.
If PSN is already linked to another Epic account
Do not unlink it until you have confirmed which Epic account holds your Switch progress and which PSN account you want to use. Epic provides a process for changing a linked console account and warns users to make sure they are removing the intended account. Its PlayStation sync guide covers linking a PlayStation account with the progress you want. Follow the current on-screen prompts; the exact labels may change.

If your Switch progress does not appear on PS5
- In Epic account settings, check Linked accounts and confirm that Nintendo and PlayStation are connected to the same Epic account.
- On PS5, confirm that Fortnite is running under the PSN account shown as linked in Epic settings.
- If the wrong progress appears, stop before unlinking anything. Check which Epic account is connected to the PSN account; unlinking and relinking does not move progress earned on another Epic account.
- For a specific linking or sync error, use Epic’s Fortnite sync troubleshooting guide.
