For a 24/7 stream, prepare native tags in YouTube’s Shopping tools; YouTube’s guidance does not describe a special nonstop-stream workflow or guarantee that tags persist through every restart or interruption.
First, choose between product tags and ordinary affiliate links
“YouTube Shopping affiliate links” can mean either native product tags in YouTube’s Shopping interface or regular affiliate URLs that send viewers to an external site. They are separate tools, with different eligibility and placement rules.

If you want the product to appear in YouTube’s Shopping interface, use a native tag. A pasted URL is not a substitute for that tag.
Check whether your channel can use the affiliate program
YouTube’s eligibility overview says creators need to be in the YouTube Partner Program, meet the applicable subscriber threshold, be based in a currently listed country, and satisfy channel and audience eligibility requirements. YouTube currently lists Argentina, Brazil, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the United States and Vietnam. Availability and requirements can change, so check your status and current requirements in YouTube Studio rather than relying on an old threshold or a country list copied elsewhere.

To get started, open YouTube Studio and look for the Shopping section and affiliate offers available to your channel. If the affiliate program or products do not appear, check your channel’s eligibility and current availability; do not assume that a general ability to livestream also qualifies you for affiliate tags.
Tag products for a livestream
- Choose products that genuinely fit the stream. YouTube’s live tagging guidance says products should be prominently featured, safely used and meaningfully related to the content. For a gaming stream, for example, a product should have a clear connection to what viewers can see or what you are discussing—not merely be added because it pays a commission. Some content is excluded from displaying product tags.
- Open the Shopping panel in the live-tagging workflow. Select products available to your channel from participating brands and retailers. YouTube’s documented live workflow allows up to 60 products. The exact interface can vary by device and may change, so follow the current controls shown in YouTube Studio or the supported live-tagging screen.
- Order the tags to match the presentation. YouTube recommends tagging relevant products in the order they appear in the stream. Keep the selection useful to viewers rather than filling every available slot.
- Finish ahead of the start time. YouTube recommends completing tagging at least 30 minutes before a livestream for the best viewer experience. A product-list update may not become visible to some people who are already watching.
- Make the call to action clear. Tell viewers where to find the Shopping products and disclose that you may earn a commission. Follow applicable local disclosure rules; if the content features a paid endorsement, use YouTube’s branded-content disclosure as appropriate.
- Check the replay separately. YouTube says products can also be tagged after a stream for display on the replay. This is useful if you want the replay to have product tags, but it is not a guarantee that the tags will remain visible through every live-stream restart.
Use ordinary affiliate URLs only as ordinary links
If you participate in a separate affiliate program, you may share its URL in a YouTube-supported link surface, such as live chat or a horizontal livestream’s channel description. YouTube says clickable external links require access to advanced features, and all URLs must comply with its external-links policy. Do not promise viewers that a URL will be clickable in every layout or that it will behave like a native Shopping product tag.

Disclose the commission relationship plainly. A short note near the link can tell viewers that you may earn a commission if they buy. If the stream includes a paid endorsement, use the branded-content disclosure where appropriate and follow the rules that apply in your location.
Understand commissions before describing earnings
YouTube describes affiliate commission rates as estimates, not guaranteed earnings. The rate in effect on the purchase date governs the payout, and rates can change. Viewers in other countries may be matched with a local merchant and that merchant’s active rate. Avoid quoting a fixed commission or promising a return based on a rate shown today.

What changes—and what does not—when a stream runs 24/7
YouTube’s live Shopping guidance explains product tagging for livestreams generally; it does not set out a special 24/7 affiliate-tagging procedure, define how tags behave through every restart, or guarantee uninterrupted availability. Treat product tagging and keeping the broadcast online as separate tasks. You still need to plan how the video is delivered continuously, and you should verify the Shopping display after starting or restarting a stream.
YouTube discusses hosting a shopping livestream with an encoder or a mobile device. Neither is stated to be required for affiliate tags or for continuous operation. A separate YouTube page about selling a creator’s own products recommends planning a stream of at least 30 minutes to an hour; that guidance is about that own-product context, not a minimum or prohibition for affiliate streams, and it does not establish a rule for 24/7 broadcasts.

For a nonstop prerecorded stream, make sure you have the rights to the video, music and other material you broadcast. Product tags do not grant content rights or guarantee that a stream is eligible for monetization. Keep products relevant to what viewers actually see, and check YouTube’s current rules before relying on a stream format for revenue.
