Revenant tonics are no longer craftable in Destiny 2. This guide explains how the system worked during Episode: Revenant: players gathered reagents, brewed tonics to discover higher-rarity recipes, and completed Fieldwork for more materials and brewing upgrades. Bungie deprecated the Tonic Capsule and all tonic variations on July 15, 2025, and lists Episode: Revenant among content moved to the Destiny Content Vault.
Why you can’t craft Revenant tonics now
The Tonic Laboratory belonged to Episode: Revenant, a Year 8 episode. Bungie’s July 2025 deprecation notice says the Tonic Capsule and all tonic variations were deprecated from inventories on July 15, 2025. Bungie’s Destiny Content Vault information also lists Episode: Revenant and the Tonic Laboratory among vaulted content. That means the historical steps below are not currently actionable in the game.

Bungie says vaulted activities may be re-added to the Portal in later releases, so the system’s absence now does not establish that it can never return. Bungie’s June 2026 support guide says planned live-service content updates have ended, while allowing that a future hotfix could still address game health and stability; it does not announce a return of Revenant tonics.
How tonic brewing worked
The loop had four parts: collect reagents through gameplay, brew recipes at the Tonic Laboratory, use crafting to discover recipes at higher rarities, and complete Eido’s Fieldwork for additional reagents and upgrades. The Tonic Capsule in a player’s inventory explained where ingredients came from. Bungie said ingredients were earned through activities, with some regularly available and rarer materials tied to particular activities.

How recipe discovery and rarity worked
Bungie’s progression summary described brewing Uncommon tonics to discover Rare recipes, then brewing enough Rare tonics of different types to start discovering Legendary recipes. Higher rarity meant more powerful effects; Legendary tonics also lasted longer. The available official guidance does not establish a fixed number of crafts needed to unlock each recipe. Contemporary guides described discovery as a chance-based process and reported that players often needed several crafts, so any exact count should be treated as an observation, not a guaranteed requirement.
| Rarity | Historical base duration | How it fit into discovery |
|---|---|---|
| Uncommon | 40 minutes after Bungie’s December 17, 2024 update | Brewing these could reveal Rare recipes. |
| Rare | 60 minutes after Bungie’s December 17, 2024 update | Brewing Rare tonics of different types could lead to Legendary recipe discoveries. |
| Legendary | 80 minutes after Bungie’s December 17, 2024 update | Had stronger effects; Legendary Volatile tonics combined two tonic effects, while Legendary Enriching tonics improved chances for more specific loot. |
These are Bungie’s patch-adjusted base durations, not a claim that tonics are presently obtainable. Completing all Major Fieldwork unlocked Key Fieldwork, which permanently extended tonic duration for the player.
Volatile vs. Enriching tonics
| Family | Purpose during Revenant | How the Legendary tier differed |
|---|---|---|
| Volatile | Provided combat effects that empowered the Guardian. | Legendary Volatile tonics combined the effects of two tonics. |
| Enriching | Influenced loot outcomes, helping target particular rewards. | Legendary Enriching tonics improved the chance of more specific loot. |
Bungie’s December 17, 2024 patch notes clarified Legendary loot behavior: when a tonic’s specific reward triggered directly to the loot feed, that reward was guaranteed. The tonic also increased the chance of the specified item dropping from its associated activity. Bungie’s example was Tonic of Vantage Point, which increased the chance of that weapon dropping from Onslaught: Salvation chests. This describes the patched historical system, not a current drop opportunity.
Where Revenant reagents came from
Reagents came from activities across Destiny 2, though Bungie said some of the rarest and most valuable ingredients were tied to particular activities. Historical guides also reported that enemies and activities across the system could provide materials, and that Onslaught: Salvation’s 10-wave reward chests were a productive source. Those farming observations were specific to the activities and game state at the time; they are not enduring drop-rate guarantees.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Historical reagent guides associated materials with sources such as combatants and destination materials, activities across the system, and particular Revenant activities. They named Onslaught: Salvation for Enriching Flake, Tomb of Elders for Tomb Flake, and Kell’s Fall for Reflective Flake. Some materials were described as most efficiently earned in higher-difficulty Revenant activities. Several related activities or items have since been vaulted or deprecated, so these historical source associations should not be read as current farming instructions. Bungie’s official pages do not provide a complete current recipe-by-recipe ingredient list.

Discovering tonic formulas unlocked Fieldwork offerings from Eido. Minor Fieldwork awarded extra reagents and rewards and opened access to Major Fieldwork. Major Fieldwork supplied upgrades to brewing and reagent collection. Once all Major Fieldwork was complete, Eido offered Key Fieldwork, whose reward permanently extended tonic duration. Contemporary guides also named upgrades such as Blood Drive, Extraordinary Tonics, Performance Bonus, Bounty Harvester, and Revenant Recycler; these are historical examples, not currently obtainable upgrades.
