PC Gamer reported the HP OMEN 35L GT16-1085m with an RTX 5080 and Ryzen 7 9800X3D for $2,799.99 at HP US on October 5, 2026. Tom’s Hardware reported the same price on October 6. That makes it a notable recently reported offer, not a confirmed price or stock check for October 7: check HP’s live listing before deciding.
What the reported HP OMEN 35L deal includes
The specific desktop is HP OMEN 35L Gaming Desktop GT16-1085m, product number C33HVAA#ABA. HP’s US product listing specifies these core components:
- AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card with 16 GB GDDR7
- 32 GB Kingston FURY DDR5-6000 memory
- 2 TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD
PC Gamer reports that this deal configuration also has a 1,000 W power supply and a 240 mm AIO liquid cooler. HP’s support specifications list the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and RTX 5080 among components supported in the OMEN 35L GT16-1000a series; that support page is for the series, not a separate confirmation of every component in this exact retail SKU.
How to read the $2,799.99 price
PC Gamer reported HP US’s sale price as $2,799.99 on October 5, 2026, compared with a former listed price of $4,999.99. Tom’s Hardware reported the $2,799.99 sale price again on October 6. Both reports point to HP US as the seller; they do not establish that Amazon offered the same price. The reported sale arrived before Amazon’s Prime Day event began, which is the context behind the headline’s timing.

Those are dated publisher reports, not a verified October 7 checkout quote. The $4,999.99 figure is the former listed price reported by PC Gamer, not evidence of the desktop’s component-by-component value or a guaranteed saving against other retailers. Confirm the current price, seller, configuration and stock on HP’s page before purchase.
Is this a strong gaming PC offer?
The pairing of an RTX 5080 and Ryzen 7 9800X3D, alongside 32 GB of DDR5-6000 and a 2 TB Gen4 SSD, makes the configuration compelling on paper for a high-end gaming desktop. However, PC Gamer explicitly said it had not tested this RTX 5080 and 9800X3D combination. Its positive assessment is an expectation, not a benchmark result for this exact machine; the cited coverage provides no measured frame rates or direct comparison establishing it as the market’s best deal.

Cooling is another practical consideration. The deal report specifies a 240 mm AIO, but does not establish that it causes throttling or that an upgrade is necessary. PC Gamer mentioned a 360 mm AIO only as a possible upgrade if the processor throttles; case fit, radiator compatibility and the need for that change are not established. Treat it as a conditional consideration, not a reason to budget for an upgrade by default.
