In HumanitZ, gather basic materials from bushes, trees and loose stones; mine ore with a pickaxe; salvage wrecked vehicles; and search buildings and containers for manufactured supplies. Use the Crafting tab to check what you can make and which station a recipe needs. This guide covers the acquisition methods documented in available sources, not a complete inventory or guaranteed spawn table for every item in the current game.
Gather resources in the wilderness
Bushes: fibers and sticks
Hit bushes with a knife or another sharp tool to collect fibers and sticks; bait is an occasional yield. Fibers are used for bandages, while sticks can be made into rope. These uses and yields are listed in the HumanitZ resource wiki; the tutorial describes using a sharp tool on bushes.

Trees and logs: wood
Use an axe to fell trees and collect logs. Turn logs into wood at a table saw, or place a log on the ground and chop it with an axe. The resource wiki lists the tree yield, and the crafting wiki describes table-saw processing.
Loose stones and mineable rocks
Pick up loose stones from the ground for basic crafting. For mineable rock nodes, bring a pickaxe; stones and ore-bearing nodes are separate sources. The tutorial covers loose stones, while the resource wiki specifies the pickaxe requirement for mining.

Mine and refine ore
The resource wiki names copper ore, iron ore, coal, saltpeter and zinc among mineable resources. Smelting refines ore into ingots. A secondary guide published February 11, 2026 reports visual cues: dark gray or silver-veined rocks for iron, large white-veined rocks for salt, and copper-colored rocks for copper. Treat those appearances as reported search cues, not a complete or authoritative spawn specification.
Salvage wrecks and search for manufactured supplies
Wrecked vehicles
Some wrecked cars can be destroyed to obtain scrap and sheet metal, according to the resource wiki. A hammer or another melee weapon is reported as a way to break them in the February 2026 guide. That guide also says scrap and sheet metal can be converted into one another; check the current Crafting tab before relying on those recipes, since the official indexed resource excerpt confirms vehicle salvage but not the conversions.
Containers, buildings and vehicle parts
Search cars, trunks, houses, garages, auto stores and other loot containers for manufactured materials and vehicle components. Reported finds include batteries, electronics, fan belts, fuel pumps and starter motors; nails may appear in trunks or ordinary house loot. These are search suggestions from the February 2026 guide, not a guaranteed drop list.
A Steam community map guide posted May 21, 2026 includes filters for loot, locations, locked containers, supply drops, scrap and sheet metal, and rocks and ores. The map is community-maintained and its pins can change, so use it to plan a search and verify locations in your save.
Fuel and automotive locations
The February 2026 guide reports that gasoline can be siphoned from a working vehicle with a hose, funnel and empty can, or found in places such as garages, sheds, gas stations, auto stores and some vehicles. It also lists automotive locations as likely places to search for hoses, funnels and empty cans. Treat these as secondary-guide tips and check item requirements in-game if a patch has changed them.
Check recipes and process materials
Open your inventory and select the Crafting tab. Hover over an available recipe to see its ingredients and the counts currently in your inventory; selecting the recipe starts crafting and consumes those ingredients. Workbenches expand the available crafting options, while campfires, cooking stoves, chemistry stations and furnaces handle specialized functions. These instructions and the recipe examples below are listed in the crafting wiki; recipes may change with updates.
| Station | Indexed recipe | Function or use |
|---|---|---|
| Campfire | 4 stone, 2 wood, 2 sticks | Cooking and campfire functions |
| Workbench | 2 scrap metal, 6 wood, 10 nails | Expands crafting options |
| Furnace | 2 wood, 1 sheet metal, 10 stone, 1 cement | Smelt ore into ingots |
These are recipes indexed by the crafting wiki, not a guarantee that every current save has the same recipe values. Recheck the in-game recipe before gathering ingredients.
To use a table saw, hold a log and interact with the saw; after processing time, retrieve the resulting wood. The crafting wiki describes this workflow.

| Bushes | Knife or another sharp tool | Fibers, sticks, occasional bait | Craft fibers into bandages or sticks into rope |
| Trees and logs | Axe | Logs | Table saw or chop a log on the ground for wood |

| Wrecked cars | Hammer or melee weapon, as reported by the February 2026 guide | Scrap and sheet metal | Check current recipes for any conversion |
| Containers and loose loot | Search buildings, cars and containers | Manufactured supplies and vehicle components | Depends on the item and recipe |
| Automotive locations | Search vehicles, garages, sheds, gas stations and auto stores | Fuel and vehicle-related items | Gas siphoning, if requirements are met |
Exact respawn rates and loot chances are not established by the cited sources, so the table describes where to search rather than promising a yield.
Quick Recap
A practical early-game search loop
- Start with a knife or another sharp tool. Harvest nearby bushes for fibers and sticks, and collect loose stones from the ground.
- Find or make an axe, then chop trees for logs. Process logs at a table saw or chop them on the ground to make wood.
- Check nearby houses for basic loot and clothing. Search cars and containers as you move between locations.
- Use a hammer or melee weapon on wrecked cars when you need scrap or sheet metal.
- For ore, get a pickaxe and search for mineable nodes. Bring ore to a furnace for smelting.
- When looking for mechanical parts or fuel, prioritize vehicles, garages, sheds, gas stations and auto stores. Use the community map’s resource and loot filters to plan a route, then confirm pins in-game; resource-rich areas may also be dangerous.
- Open the Crafting tab to check ingredient counts and station requirements before making a dedicated gathering trip.
