HunterX: code name T is a single-player action-adventure game from ORANGE POPCORN. You play as devil hunter Taiyo, who sets out to hunt devils and recover a lost memory. It is available on PC and Nintendo Switch; on PC, Steam supports both keyboard-and-mouse play and controllers, while recommending a controller.
What is HunterX: code name T?
HunterX: code name T follows Taiyo, a devil hunter who recalls a lost memory and begins a hunt for devils—and answers about himself. The official Steam description opens: “The Night of the Purple Moon has returned.” That is premise-setting language from the game’s publisher, not an independently verified account of its story or quality.

The game is listed as single-player. Steam’s community tags include Metroidvania and Souls-like, but those are user-applied tags rather than an official genre classification. A practical way to understand the pitch is as action-adventure combat paired with exploration, weapon options, and item collection.
How does combat and exploration work?
According to the official Steam listing, combat combines weapon-specific actions with magic and defensive moves. The listed options include dodging, guarding, parrying, and counterattacking, alongside boss fights. The description also emphasizes exploration and more than 190 different items that can help identify enemy weaknesses. These are publisher-described features, not findings from independent gameplay testing.

The listing does not establish how open the map is, how progression is structured, or how difficult the game feels, so those details should not be inferred from its storefront description alone.

Do you need a controller?

It says the game has full controller support and recommends playing with a controller, so a compatible controller is an optional supported setup rather than a stated prerequisite. Check the live Steam page for current input and language details before purchase.

Is HunterX: code name T like Bloodstained?
Any comparison with Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is best treated as an editorial comparison, not an established equivalence. Both may appeal to players interested in action-adventure combat and exploration, but the available product information for HunterX: code name T describes its own mix of weapon actions, defensive options, bosses, and weakness-focused item collection. It does not establish that the games share the same map structure, progression, tone, or combat feel.
