HYBE IM announced an $80 million strategic investment on August 6, 2024, to strengthen its game publishing and development businesses. Makers Fund led the round, with HYBE and IMM Investment participating. A separate KRW 30 billion financing followed in 2025; the available records do not establish the 2024 investment’s returns or whether every planned initiative was carried out.
Who invested in HYBE IM?
HYBE IM described the August 2024 financing as an $80 million strategic investment. Yonhap reported an approximate conversion of KRW 109.8 billion, while HYBE’s later filing records the share issuance at approximately KRW 108 billion. Those are differently stated, rounded amounts, not identical exact figures. The filing says 76,924 new convertible preferred shares were subscribed for to raise operating capital and strengthen the game business. Makers Fund led the investment. HYBE and IMM Investment also participated. The filing names HYBE, Makers Fund VCC Fund III, Makers Fund VCC Venture III, and IMM Investment as subscribers.
What did HYBE IM plan to do with the money?
HYBE IM said the capital would help it strengthen its position in the global games market and expand both publishing and development. In a contemporaneous English rendering reported by Korea JoongAng Daily, the company said the investment would strengthen its global gaming competitiveness and help it become a “holistic gaming company” by diversifying its publishing and development portfolio.

Publishing games from external studios
HYBE’s August 2024 shareholder letter said HYBE IM had begun publishing games developed by external studios in the second quarter of 2024. HYBE described the near-term objective as establishing that publishing business and expanding its operations. The letter also discussed future launches of internally developed, IP-based games; it described plans, not proof that every anticipated title was released or successful. HYBE’s August 1, 2024 shareholder letter provides that context.
Developing games connected to artists
HYBE IM’s earlier activity included artist-IP games such as Rhythm Hive and BTS Island: In the SEOM. A Korea Creative Content Agency overview dated December 12, 2024, reported that Rhythm Hive had 12.5 million users worldwide at that time. That dated figure is not a current user count. The agency’s overview is the source for the statistic.

How does the 2025 financing fit in?
HYBE IM announced another, separate financing of KRW 30 billion in 2025, involving IMM Investment, Shinhan Venture Investment, and Daesung Private Equity. HYBE’s filing describes a March 2025 preferred-share issuance and names the subscribing investors. The company said the additional capital would support publishing capability and long-term growth, including marketing, live-service operations, and localization. HYBE Japan’s April 1, 2025 announcement via PR Times describes the company’s stated plans; HYBE’s filing on Korea Exchange KIND records the financing disclosure.
The 2025 raise should not be folded into the August 2024 $80 million round. The available records establish these two financings, but do not establish HYBE IM’s total funding or later developments beyond those 2025 disclosures.
