Yes. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity supports local two-player play. Each player needs a compatible controller, and Nintendo confirms that the first chapter can be played either solo or in local two-player mode. Nintendo’s listing does not establish online or local-wireless co-op.
What you need for two-player co-op
- A copy of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity for Nintendo Switch.
- One compatible controller for each player. Nintendo’s game listing specifies one compatible controller per player but does not prescribe a particular controller model. Nintendo’s official game listing
How to start playing with a friend
Nintendo confirms that the first chapter can be played in local two-player mode, but its listing does not give the menu path, button presses, or the precise point when the two-player option becomes available. Follow the prompts shown in the game to enter two-player mode and connect or assign each player’s controller. Do not rely on instructions for another Hyrule Warriors game; its menus may differ.
Is online or local-wireless co-op available?
The official listing cited here confirms local two-player play, but does not state that Age of Calamity supports online or local-wireless co-op. The available information is not enough to confirm either mode, so treat the verified option as local play on the same console.
If the two-player menu does not work
Check that the game is updated. Nintendo’s support notice records an update made available September 9, 2026, which included a fix for an issue that could prevent progress after certain operations in the two-player mode menu. See Nintendo’s Age of Calamity update support page for update information.
