Hytale progression in Early Access is best approached as a flexible loop: explore, uncover the Forgotten Temple and the Cursebreaker story, gather Memories through encounters with creatures and factions, then return to the Heart of Orbis to claim permanent rewards and upgrades. There is no verified universal biome order or complete boss sequence in the official guidance reviewed here. This guide reflects Hytale’s changing Early Access state as of October 8, 2026; Update 7 details cited below are pre-release notes, and the live build may differ.
How progression works in Hytale Early Access
Hypixel Studios describes Exploration Mode as an exploration-focused world where you can build a home, grow crops, craft equipment, encounter creatures and factions, and play with friends. The documented progression is not a fixed campaign checklist. Instead, use exploration to uncover story elements and collect Memories, then bring those Memories back to the Heart of Orbis for permanent rewards and upgrades. Hypixel Studios’ Early Access announcement calls the experience “unpolished and incomplete” and says bugs are expected; treat detailed routes and balance advice as provisional.
The practical progression loop
- Explore your starting world. Learn the nearby terrain, gather what you need to stay equipped, and look for the Forgotten Temple, which the official announcement identifies as the place to uncover the first elements of the Cursebreaker story arc.
- Engage with the world. Interact with creatures and factions as you explore. Memories are gathered through exploration and those interactions.
- Return to the Heart of Orbis. Turn in the Memories you have collected to receive permanent rewards and upgrades.
- Improve what is holding you back. Craft or upgrade equipment and improve your crafting capability in response to the challenges and opportunities you encounter, rather than following an assumed universal tier list.
- Repeat with new goals. Use the rewards and discoveries from one excursion to support the next exploration push.
What to look for first
The Forgotten Temple and Cursebreaker story
Make the Forgotten Temple an early exploration goal: the January 2026 launch announcement presents it as the starting point for the first elements of the Cursebreaker story arc. The announcement does not provide fixed coordinates or guarantee that every world presents the route identically, so navigate by what your current world reveals rather than relying on a universal coordinate guide.
Memories, creatures, and factions
Memories connect exploration to lasting progression. The official description says they come from exploring and interacting with creatures and factions, then are returned to the Heart of Orbis for permanent rewards and upgrades. Keep the loop in mind while traveling: discoveries and encounters can matter beyond immediate loot.

Home, crops, and multiplayer
Exploration Mode also includes building a home, growing crops, crafting, and playing with friends. These are part of the broader play experience, not evidence of a mandatory order of objectives. The official Hytale site frames Early Access around exploration, combat, building, creator tools, minigames, and community servers.
Crafting and equipment: adapt to the current build
The launch announcement describes upgradable workbenches that interact with nearby storage, plus specialized crafting stations that provide access to building blocks, furniture, and decorations. However, crafting and its role in progression were publicly described as under rework in July 2026. In a development post, Game Director Simon said the team was reworking core crafting mechanics and their relationship to player progression, including reducing the number of benches and shifting more crafting into activities such as wood chopping and metalworking. The same post identified “Crafting Rework: Chapter 2” as a roadmap item and warned that the work was still in progress; a roadmap entry is not proof that a feature has shipped. Read the July 16 development update.

For that reason, use stations and upgrades available in your current game version, but verify recipes, bench tiers, and unlock order in-game before following a detailed crafting checklist. The January announcement also described the Ancient Gateway and temporary Fragments of Orbis as under development at that time, so do not assume either is currently available without checking the build you are playing.
Combat advice and patch-sensitive details
Build around the encounters you actually face, and check the patch notes for your installed version before relying on exact damage, cooldown, ability-cost, or durability advice. The Hytale Team’s Update 7 pre-release notes, updated through October 1, 2026, report changes to weapon and tool durability, ability costs and cooldowns, Goblin breach hunts, and other encounters and items. In that patch part, Goblin breach hunts require a Voidheart, and breach frequency and reward behavior also changed. These are version-specific examples, not timeless progression rules; pre-release notes may differ from the stable build.

What a reliable route guide cannot promise yet
The official material reviewed does not establish an optimal biome order, universal coordinates, ore thresholds for each equipment tier, or a complete boss progression. Hytale’s worlds are described as procedural, and crafting and progression have been under active development, so a rigid route can become inaccurate across worlds or updates. Treat any exact sequence as specific to the world and build in which it was verified.
