Is IBM Video Streaming discontinued?
No discontinuation is established by the available information. IBM’s product page continues to describe live and on-demand video services, while its support page directs customers to the IBM Video Streaming Status page for interruption updates. IBM’s offering includes organizational capabilities such as access controls, branded portals, APIs, captions and analytics; those can matter for internal, confidential or regulated broadcasts. This is a different emphasis from tools focused on continuously sending a creator’s video library to YouTube.

Check YouTube eligibility before setting up a service
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions during the preceding 90 days. First-time live streaming may take up to 24 hours to become available. YouTube supports webcam, mobile and encoder workflows; encoder streaming is the relevant category for external equipment and more advanced production. Confirm the current requirements on YouTube’s live-streaming help page before scheduling a launch.

Which option fits your channel?
Choose a cloud loop for an existing video library
For a channel built around recorded gameplay, music, commentary or other owned or properly licensed recordings, a cloud loop is the most direct workflow. Choose an encoder for hands-on production
A software or hardware encoder is appropriate when you are producing a live show, gameplay session or camera feed and want to control the production locally. It sends a live input to YouTube; it does not by itself keep a prerecorded library cycling from the cloud or guarantee recovery after a dropped connection. Plan for the computer or hardware, network connection, power and monitoring that the production depends on.
Keep IBM in view when enterprise controls matter
For branded portals, access management, analytics, APIs, captions or organizational distribution, IBM’s enterprise positioning may be more relevant than a creator-oriented always-on tool. Compare the actual workflow and controls you need rather than assuming a continuous YouTube loop is a like-for-like replacement.

Prepare content and channel operations
Confirm rights and YouTube policy fit
A technical ability to repeat a video does not grant permission to use its music, footage, gameplay assets or other material. Use content you own or are licensed to stream, and review YouTube’s copyright and monetization policies before building a long-running playlist. Reused-content rules are separate from copyright: permission to use material does not by itself establish eligibility for monetization. A loop should also provide a legitimate viewer experience rather than simply repeating material in a way that misleads viewers.

Common problems and fixes
- You cannot start a live stream: verify the channel, confirm live streaming is enabled, and check for restrictions in the preceding 90 days. If this is your first live stream, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- The broadcast stops when your computer shuts down: a locally operated encoder depends on the computer and its network remaining available. Use a cloud workflow for an uploaded-video loop if you do not want local equipment to remain on.
- A camera stream does not resume after a disconnect: check the camera’s network and power, confirm the camera model and app compatibility, and review the watchdog and licensing setup with CamStreamer.
- A playlist cannot be used as planned: confirm that the service supports your file and playlist workflow, that the upload completed, and that your storage and concurrent-stream limits cover the intended setup.
- YouTube blocks or limits the stream: check the channel’s live eligibility and account notices, then review content rights and YouTube policy compliance. Changing streaming software does not remove a channel restriction or resolve a rights issue.
