igo32.dll is a 32-bit Origin IGO component used by the legacy Electronic Arts Origin client and its in-game overlay. It is not a Windows system DLL, so the safest fix is to repair or reinstall the EA software that installed it rather than copying a replacement into System32.
The current EA app has replaced Origin and requires 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11. Older Origin installations and some games launched through Origin may still report this file when the client is incomplete, damaged, updated incorrectly, or blocked by antivirus software.

Fix 1: Repair the EA game
If the EA app opens but a game does not start, repair the game before reinstalling everything.
- Open the EA app.
- Select Library.
- Find the affected game.
- Select the game’s three-dot menu.
- Choose Repair.
- Wait for the file check and replacement process to finish.
- Restart the EA app and launch the game again.
This restores damaged game files and can correct a mismatched client-game installation. It will not necessarily repair a damaged EA app installation itself.
If the game was installed through the old Origin client and no longer appears correctly, do not delete its folder. Reinstall or repair the EA app first, then use EA’s game detection or installation process to point the client at the existing game files.
Fix 2: Clear the EA app cache
A damaged cache can prevent the EA app from loading, updating, or locating its installed files.
- Open the EA app.
- Select the menu icon in the upper-left corner.
- Choose Help.
- Select App recovery.
- Click Clear cache.
- Let the app restart.
- Try the game or client again.
If the EA app will not open, use its Windows Start menu recovery option if available. Open Start, expand the EA folder, and select the cache-recovery shortcut. After the cache is cleared, run the game repair steps again.
Fix 3: Reinstall the current EA app
For a missing igo32.dll, reinstalling the owning client is safer than finding the DLL separately.

- Close the EA app and any running EA games.
- Open Settings with
Windows + I. - Select Apps.
- Choose Installed apps.
- Find EA app or Origin.
- Select the three-dot menu and choose Uninstall.
- Restart Windows.
- Download the EA app from EA’s official website.
- Install it normally.
- Sign in and check Library.
- Use the game’s three-dot menu and select Repair if the game still reports a missing component.
The current EA app is intended for 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. A 32-bit igo32.dll does not mean that Windows must be 32-bit. It is simply a 32-bit application component used by older Origin software.
After reinstalling, check whether the file is present in the EA or legacy Origin program directory. Do not expect it in C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64.
Fix 4: Check antivirus quarantine
Security software can quarantine an application DLL after an update or during a scan. A quarantine event does not automatically prove that the detection was a false positive.
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Look for an event involving
IGO32.dll, Origin, or the EA app. - Check the detected file path and action.
- If the file came from the official EA installation directory, update Windows and your security product.
- Repair or reinstall the EA app instead of restoring an isolated DLL manually.
Only restore a quarantined file when you can verify its source, installation path, and publisher information. If the file appeared in a download folder, a temporary directory, or beside an unrelated executable, leave it quarantined and run a full security scan.

Fix 5: Disable the overlay without deleting its DLL
If the game starts but crashes, freezes, stutters, or has capture and hooking problems, the overlay may be conflicting with the game. Do not delete IGO32.dll to disable it.
In the EA app:
- Open the EA app.
- Select your profile thumbnail.
- Choose Settings.
- Select Application.
- Find In-game overlay.
- Turn the overlay off.
- Restart the EA app and test the game.
Deleting the component can stop Origin itself from starting. Disabling the feature through the client leaves the installation consistent and makes it easier to restore later.
Fix 6: Check for a mismatched DLL
An entry-point error can happen when an older executable loads a newer or unrelated igo32.dll, or when the DLL was copied from another installation.

Windows normally searches application-related locations according to its DLL search rules. That means placing a random copy beside an executable can make the problem worse by causing the wrong version to load first.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Remove manually copied DLL files from the game directory only if you know they were added during troubleshooting and are not part of the original installation. Then run EA app repair or reinstall the client.
Do not substitute igo64.dll for igo32.dll. The two files serve different architectures, and a 64-bit companion cannot repair a missing 32-bit component.
Fix 7: Repair Windows components when other programs also fail
Because igo32.dll belongs to third-party EA software, Windows component repair is not the primary fix. Use it when multiple unrelated applications show missing-file errors or Windows itself behaves abnormally.
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for it to complete.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Repair or reinstall the EA app again.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC. These commands repair Windows components and protected system files; they do not download a legitimate Origin DLL into the EA installation.

Fix 8: Repair a separately named dependency
Only install another runtime when the actual error names it.
- For
MSVCP100.dllorMSVCR100.dll, use Microsoft’s Visual C++ Redistributable packages. - For a named DirectX component, use Microsoft’s DirectX End-User Runtime.
- For a graphics-driver DLL, install the correct driver from the graphics hardware manufacturer.
- For a Windows system DLL, use Windows Update and the DISM/SFC process above.
Do not install DirectX, Visual C++, or unrelated runtime packages merely because igo32.dll is missing. They are not established replacements for this Origin component.

Fix 9: Update the graphics driver only for graphics-related errors
A graphics driver is relevant when the error names a driver DLL or the game fails with display, rendering, or device-reset errors. It is not a direct replacement for igo32.dll.
To check the installed driver:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click the graphics device.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows if a driver is installed.
For a clean vendor update, download the driver from the graphics manufacturer’s official support page. Avoid driver files from random download sites.
If manually checking hardware models and comparing driver packages is taking too long, Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated drivers and show the available updates, while driver installation through the full version is optional. A graphics-driver update still does not replace repairing the EA installation when the error specifically names igo32.dll.
What not to do
Do not download igo32.dll from a DLL website
Random DLL download sites can provide malware, the wrong version, the wrong architecture, or a file with no trustworthy installation history. Even a clean copy may not match the Origin executable, required dependencies, or current EA installation.
Use the official EA app installer, EA game repair, and the client’s own update process instead.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsDo not copy it to System32 or SysWOW64
igo32.dll is an application-local component. Copying it to either Windows system directory can create version conflicts and does not repair the Origin or EA app installation.
Do not use regsvr32 as a general repair
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. An Origin overlay runtime normally does not need COM registration.
Running commands such as these is therefore not a standard repair:

FAQ
Is igo32.dll a Windows file?
No. It is associated with the legacy Origin client and its Origin IGO overlay. It should not normally be stored in System32 or SysWOW64.
Is igo32.dll malware?
The filename alone does not prove that a file is safe or malicious. Verify that it came from an official EA installation, check its path and publisher signature, and review any antivirus detection before restoring it.
Can I download a replacement DLL?
Do not download it separately. Repair or reinstall the EA app so the correct component and its dependencies are installed together.
Does Origin still use igo32.dll?
Legacy Origin installations and older EA games may still reference it. Origin has been replaced by the current EA app, so reinstalling the current client is generally safer than rebuilding an old standalone Origin installation.
Is igo64.dll a replacement?
No. igo64.dll is a separate 64-bit component. It cannot replace the 32-bit igo32.dll.
What if the error remains after reinstalling?
Check antivirus quarantine again, clear the EA app cache, repair the game, and confirm that the error still names igo32.dll. If it names another file, repair that dependency instead. If every step fails, record the full error text, executable path, Windows version, EA app version, antivirus action, and whether the file exists in the EA installation directory before contacting EA Support.
