What is the IKEA and Xbox YXSTABY collection?
YXSTABY is a collaboration between IKEA and Xbox—not a single gaming chair or console accessory. IKEA announced it on August 26, 2026, describing a collection intended to fit into shared, everyday living spaces and remain useful when gaming stops. The pieces address different needs, from seating and screen placement to storage, charging and display.
IKEA says one designer from each company worked together on every piece. The teams also visited homes where gaming is part of daily life. IKEA brought its home-furnishing experience, while Xbox contributed its understanding of how people play. The aim was to make furniture people would want in their homes, rather than accept simply because it serves a gaming setup.
What’s in the IKEA Xbox collection?
The collection contains nine items: four furniture pieces, a portable laptop support, a stool and three home accessories.

| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Gaming lounge chair | Supports different sitting positions and has a pocket for a controller. |
| Monitor stand | Raises one or two screens, with storage underneath and holders for a phone, headphones and controller. |
| TV stand on castors | Rolls between rooms and stores gaming equipment. IKEA describes it as the first TV stand of this type it has developed. |
| Side table on castors | Moves around the room and stores controllers and other items; charging is tucked behind sliding doors. |
| Laptop support/toolbox | Carries gaming essentials. Its lid closes over the contents and doubles as a laptop stand. |
| Thumbstick-inspired stool | Uses the shape and movement of a controller thumbstick. Xbox designers supplied original Xbox Wireless Controller 3D design files for its development. |
| D-pad cushion | A soft home accessory shaped like a controller’s directional pad. |
| Stainless-steel D-pad-inspired platter | A serving or display accessory using the same directional-pad motif. |
| Mirrored display box | Displays controllers, figurines and other collectibles. |
How does the furniture fit into a shared home?
The collection’s practical focus is on making gaming equipment easier to accommodate without treating the whole room as a dedicated gaming station. The rolling TV stand and side table can move, the monitor stand organizes smaller setups, and the laptop support keeps portable essentials together. Storage and display pieces give controllers and collectibles a place when they are not in use.
The visual details are also deliberately home-oriented. IKEA’s launch materials show muted white, black and beige, with green accents on pockets and storage details. The collection’s appeal may be as much about its Xbox-inspired shapes as its utility: the stool echoes a thumbstick, while the cushion and platter use the D-pad as a design motif.

What does IKEA say about gaming’s reach?
IKEA’s August 2026 announcement says gaming is an essential part of everyday life for more than 3 billion people. The company did not identify an underlying study or methodology alongside that figure, so it is best understood as IKEA’s published estimate, not an independently verified count.
