The collection became available from October 1, 2026, with timing and stock varying by market.
What is IKEA and Xbox’s YXSTABY collection?
YXSTABY is a nine-piece, gaming-inspired collection co-developed by IKEA and Xbox. The companies say a designer from each team worked on every piece, bringing together IKEA’s home-furnishing experience and Xbox’s understanding of play. Their stated goal was to consider both players and the people who share their spaces. IKEA frames the collaboration as drawing on more than 80 years of life-at-home expertise and Xbox’s 25 years of understanding how people play; those figures describe the companies’ own framing of their experience.
The idea is not simply to put gaming graphics on standard furniture. The pieces address practical household trade-offs: where equipment goes between sessions, whether a screen or seat can move, and how a gaming setup can share space with furniture used for other things. IKEA says gaming is part of everyday life for more than 3 billion people, but its launch announcement does not identify a supporting study or method for that figure.
How the furniture is meant to work in a shared room
Move the setup to the activity
The TV stand and side table both use castors, so they can roll closer to a seat or screen and move again when the room needs to be used differently. The TV stand also has storage at the back for gaming gear. The side table keeps controllers close and has space behind sliding doors for charging small devices, with the design intended to hide cords.

This mobility is the collection’s clearest answer to the living-room problem: rather than treating gaming as a permanent, fixed installation, it makes some parts of the setup movable. Whether that is useful depends on the room layout, flooring, screen and furniture already in place.
Gather gear, then close it away
The toolbox-style storage piece keeps controllers, cables and hardware together. Its lid closes over the contents and doubles as a laptop stand, so the surface can support another task and the table can return to everyday use. A pocket on the lounge chair offers another place for gaming gear.

The monitor stand takes a different approach: it raises one or two screens and makes use of the area underneath for storage, with holders for a phone, headphones and controller. It is intended to organize a gaming position rather than make the equipment disappear.
Keep some gaming objects on display
Not every item hides its purpose. A mirrored display box is designed for controllers, figurines and other collectibles. A cushion and stainless-steel platter translate the Xbox controller’s D-pad into decorative forms. Together, these pieces let a room show its connection to gaming without turning every item into a piece of equipment.

What is in the nine-piece range?
- Lounge chair: intended for different positions and moods of play, with a pocket for gear.
- TV stand on castors: rolls to where gaming is happening and stores gear at the back.
- Toolbox/laptop support: stores controllers, cables and hardware; the lid closes and doubles as a laptop stand.
- Side table on castors: moves beside a seat, holds controllers and has concealed charging space behind sliding doors.
- Monitor stand: raises one or two screens, with storage below and holders for a phone, headphones and controller.
- Mirrored display box: presents controllers, figurines and other collectibles.
- D-pad-inspired cushion and platter: use the Xbox controller’s directional pad as a design reference.
- Thumbstick stool: developed using Xbox controller 3D design files with Xbox device designers; IKEA says its grip texture helps keep a sitter in place and that it tilts with the sitter.
Xbox design references are functional as well as visual. The D-pad informs the cushion and platter, while the thumbstick and controller grip inform the stool. IKEA and Xbox describe those as ways to carry controller forms into everyday furniture and objects.
Is the lounge chair a living-room alternative to a gaming chair?
That is the design intention, not an independently established comfort verdict. IKEA describes the chair as suitable for different positions and moods of play. Xbox designer Ryan Whitaker said the team wanted something that would not “scream gaming chair,” while helping players get comfortable and immersed. That explains the brief, but it does not establish ergonomic performance, comfort for every body, or suitability for every living room.

IKEA announced availability in stores and online from October 1, 2026, with availability varying by market. Xbox Wire said online availability would follow later in the year, so local timing and inventory should not be assumed to match everywhere. Check the listing for your local IKEA rather than relying on a single worldwide date.
