IKEA did pay a small group of people to work in its Roblox store—but it was a limited UK and Ireland recruitment campaign in June 2024, not an ongoing way for players to earn money. IKEA advertised 10 virtual co-worker roles at £13.15 an hour, then said it chose 10 candidates from more than 178,000 applications.
Can you get paid to play Roblox at IKEA?
Not simply for playing. IKEA’s paid offer was a set of 10 virtual co-worker jobs tied to The Co-Worker Game, a Roblox experience announced on 3 June 2024 and launched on 24 June. Applicants had to meet IKEA’s eligibility requirements and go through its selection process. The wider Roblox community could explore the virtual store and play activities, but IKEA did not promise wages to ordinary players.

IKEA named Swedish game design company The Gang as the experience’s developer. The virtual store included retail-inspired activities such as helping customers and organizing showrooms, as well as a Swedish Food Market and Bistro. IKEA’s launch announcement described the jobs and the broader experience.

How much did IKEA pay Roblox workers?
IKEA advertised a rate of £13.15 per hour, which it described as the London co-worker hourly rate at the time. That figure applied to the 2024 campaign; it is not a current wage offer or a general Roblox pay rate.

No. The application deadline was 16 June 2024, before the game’s 24 June launch. The paid roles were a closed, one-time recruitment campaign, not an open-ended program for players who visit the store.

What did IKEA want the campaign to show?
IKEA presented the virtual roles as a way to introduce its approach to careers. In the 3 June 2024 announcement, Darren Taylor, IKEA UK and Ireland’s Country People and Culture Manager, said the company wanted to bring its career philosophy to life, including opportunities to change roles, switch departments and grow in different directions. IKEA’s FY2024 annual summary later confirmed the Roblox store and 10-role campaign.
