For a first playthrough, follow Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s England campaign and complete the Asgard and Jotunheim story arcs before playing Dawn of Ragnarök. A clear optional-content route is Wrath of the Druids → The Siege of Paris → Dawn of Ragnarök, with A Fated Encounter and the other bonus content whenever you prefer. Only the mythology arcs before Dawn of Ragnarök are an explicit story-order dependency; the Ireland and Francia expansions do not have an official required order.
Recommended order for a first playthrough
- Begin with the base game. Start in Norway, then continue the main Ravensthorpe and England alliance campaign. There is no established mandatory order for every alliance region; use the in-game suggested power levels as a practical guide.
- Complete the Asgard and Jotunheim arcs. These mythology storylines set up Dawn of Ragnarök.
- Play Wrath of the Druids, then The Siege of Paris, if you want to do the historical expansions before the final mythology expansion. The first takes Eivor to Ireland, and the second to Francia. This order is a convenient recommendation, not a quest requirement.
- Play Dawn of Ragnarök. Ubisoft places it after the Asgard and Jotunheim arcs. It follows Odin, also known as Havi, in Svartalfheim as he seeks to save Baldr. It is separate from the historical England campaign.
- Add the optional crossover and bonus content when it suits you. Play A Fated Encounter after it unlocks, and fit The Legend of Beowulf or The Forgotten Saga around your other activities. Official material does not establish a mandatory slot for those last two among the campaign arcs.
What is required, and what is flexible?
| Content | Setting or role | Ordering guidance |
|---|---|---|
| Base game campaign | Norway, Ravensthorpe and England | Start here for the main story. No strict order among every England alliance region is established in the official sources cited below. |
| Asgard and Jotunheim arcs | Eivor’s Norse mythology storyline | Complete before Dawn of Ragnarök; Ubisoft places that expansion after these arcs. |
| Wrath of the Druids | Ireland and the Children of Danu plot | Optional. No required order relative to The Siege of Paris is stated. |
| The Siege of Paris | Francia | Optional. No required order relative to Wrath of the Druids is stated. |
| Dawn of Ragnarök | Odin/Havi in Svartalfheim | Play after the Asgard and Jotunheim arcs. It is not needed to finish the historical England campaign. |
| A Fated Encounter | Free Isle of Skye crossover featuring Kassandra from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey | Play after “A Wise Friend,” its stated unlock trigger. |
| The Legend of Beowulf | Season Pass bonus mission | Optional; no mandatory story slot is established. |
| The Forgotten Saga | Optional post-launch content | No mandatory placement among the campaign arcs is established. |
If you prefer to keep the main narrative focused, finish the England campaign before starting the Ireland and Francia adventures. If you enjoy switching settings as new quests appear, you can play those expansions earlier. That is a matter of pacing, not a verified power or story requirement.

When do the quests unlock?
According to Ubisoft Support, Wrath of the Druids, The Siege of Paris and Dawn of Ragnarök appear in the Quest tab after you reach Ravensthorpe and form at least one alliance. A Fated Encounter appears after Ravensthorpe reaches settlement level 4; its story trigger is completing “A Wise Friend.”

Why Dawn of Ragnarök goes after the mythology arcs
Ubisoft describes Dawn of Ragnarök as taking place after the Asgard and Jotunheim arcs, making it the clearest narrative dependency in the add-on lineup. Its setting and focus are distinct from Eivor’s historical adventures in England, Ireland and Francia. Ubisoft’s announcement quotes creative director Mikhail Lozanov describing Svartalfheim as a world of magical weapons and artifacts torn by war.
