A steady 24/7 stream uses about 10.8 GB per day for every 1 Mbps of total encoded bitrate, or roughly 324 GB in 30 days per Mbps. That is a bitrate-based planning estimate, not a measurement of IRL Pro or a guarantee of what a carrier will bill. At 5 Mbps, budget about 1.62 TB per 30 days before overhead; at 8 Mbps, about 2.59 TB.
Estimate data use from your stream bitrate
The baseline calculation is bitrate × time. These estimates use decimal units (1 GB = 1,000 MB), assume the listed bitrate remains steady for the entire period, and refer to total encoded bitrate.

Actual use can be higher or lower because of audio, protocol overhead, bitrate adaptation, and network behavior. YouTube lists audio bitrate separately in its encoder guidance. If the bitrate selected in IRL Pro is a video-only rate, add audio and allow for transport overhead; do not treat these figures as a carrier-bill guarantee.
Quick calculation
For a steady total bitrate, multiply Mbps by 0.45 for approximate GB per hour, by 10.8 for GB per day, or by 324 for GB in 30 days. For example, 5 Mbps × 324 is about 1,620 GB per 30 days.

Choose a bitrate your connection can sustain
YouTube’s official live encoder settings vary by codec, resolution, and frame rate. For H.264, the guide lists 3 Mbps as the minimum and 8 Mbps as recommended for 720p30; for 1080p30 it lists 5 Mbps as recommended and 14 Mbps as a recommended encoder setting. The 14 Mbps figure is not a universal target for mobile IRL streaming. YouTube advises testing upload speed, testing with similar audio and motion, and monitoring stream health.
Enhanced IRL’s IRL Pro setup guide says the app broadcasts on one connection without bonding. It instructs users to set resolution, frame rate, and bitrate below the stream-key cap, and to keep the adaptive-bitrate maximum below that cap. Its Stream Key plans show a 9,000 kbps cap and a 1080p30 starting point; these are Enhanced IRL key limits, not universal YouTube limits or a guarantee for every IRL Pro destination.

- Check the stream key’s limit. If using an Enhanced IRL Stream Key, use its stated cap as the ceiling; do not assume it is the limit for every destination or key.
- Test the actual route. Measure sustained upload where the stream will run, at the times it will run. Advertised download speed is not a substitute.
- Start modestly. Pick a resolution, frame rate, and bitrate that leave headroom below the reliable upload rate. Keep any adaptive-bitrate maximum within the key’s limit.
- Test realistic content. Include movement and the same kind of audio as the planned stream, then watch the encoder’s actual bitrate and YouTube stream health.
- Estimate from the average delivered bitrate. If the connection adapts or drops, monthly consumption follows the average rate delivered over time, not necessarily the configured maximum.
YouTube’s instruction is direct: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream.”
What an Indian connection changes
The data arithmetic per Mbps is the same in India as elsewhere. What changes is the plan’s allowance, eligibility, usage policy, coverage, and sustained upload at the stream location. The provider terms below are examples tied to the cited plans, not a comparison or endorsement of every Indian plan.

Mobile data and hotspot use
Airtel’s published mobile terms describe specified prepaid price points as personal, non-commercial use, reserve the right to suspend, modify, or throttle service in certain commercial-use cases, and define commercial usage as more than 300 GB in 30 days for those price points. Even the 3 Mbps estimate in the table is about 972 GB per month, well above that stated threshold. Check the exact current plan terms with Airtel before relying on it for continuous streaming; confirm separately how hotspot or tethering traffic is treated.
Jio’s 5G FAQ says unlimited 5G data requires an eligible plan, a compatible 5G device, and Jio True 5G coverage. It does not establish uninterrupted upload performance or that a specific 24/7 streaming workload is permitted.

Fixed broadband allowances
Fixed broadband may have a different usage ceiling. JioFiber’s prepaid terms state a 3,300 GB commercial-use policy in a 30-day recharge cycle for Truly Unlimited Plans. Airtel’s terms describe a 3,333 GB fair-use threshold per billing cycle for a specified plan, after which speed may be reduced. At 8 Mbps, the baseline estimate is about 2,592 GB in 30 days; at 10 Mbps, about 3,240 GB, close to those cited thresholds even before overhead. These are plan-specific conditions, not guarantees of upload speed or uptime.

“Unlimited” in a plan name does not, by itself, establish that a plan suits this workload. Before committing to a 24/7 schedule, compare the connection at the actual location and the provider’s applicable terms.

- Whether hotspot or tethering traffic is subject to different conditions.
- Provider restrictions on continuous or commercial use.
- The bitrate, codec, resolution, and frame rate that remain stable on the route.
- Coverage at the streaming location; a provider’s national coverage statement does not establish local signal quality.
There is no evidence here to identify one best Indian carrier or plan for everyone. The answer depends on location, provider options, and whether the connection is cellular data, tethering, or fixed broadband. Provider terms can change, so check the current terms for the exact plan before relying on it.
