If it is not, check IRL Pro’s current publish URL and key, protocol match, output settings, and connection. If YouTube is receiving a signal, inspect the selected broadcast and its setup in Studio. The message alone does not identify one confirmed cause.
Check whether YouTube is receiving IRL Pro’s signal
- Open the intended broadcast in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room.
- Start the stream from IRL Pro and look for an incoming encoder signal or preview in Studio.
- Use the result to choose the next checks: no signal points first to IRL Pro’s outgoing configuration or connection; a signal means you should also inspect the broadcast selected and its state in Studio.
YouTube’s encoder setup uses a server URL and stream key, and its workflow has the operator wait for the preview before going live. An incoming feed does not, by itself, prove the broadcast is in the desired live state. YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder
If YouTube shows no incoming signal
Refresh the publish URL and key
In the Enhanced IRL dashboard, copy the current publish URL and replace the saved destination in IRL Pro. Use the whole URL rather than treating the server address and key as interchangeable labels. Enhanced IRL notes that changing a key’s region or protocol, or rotating the key, invalidates the previous key; an old saved URL can therefore leave IRL Pro reconnecting without a signal. For a documented encoder-start error, YouTube’s advice is: “To fix it, get a new stream key in the Live Control Room and update your encoder.” That advice applies to the error described by YouTube, not necessarily to every “broadcast is inactive” message. YouTube Help: Fix encoder issues

Make the protocol match
Enhanced IRL says IRL Pro supports RTMP and SRT. Select the same protocol in IRL Pro that the key uses in the dashboard, then paste that protocol’s complete current publish URL. In the documented setup, an RTMP publish URL includes the key, while an SRT key is carried inside streamid. These details concern Enhanced IRL’s keys; do not assume every service formats URLs the same way. Enhanced IRL Docs: Broadcasting with IRL Pro
Check output and network conditions
- Keep resolution, frame rate, and bitrate within the cap for the selected Enhanced IRL plan.
- If you are broadcasting while moving and packet loss is a problem, Enhanced IRL recommends SRT for mobile broadcasting. If you are already using SRT, its guide suggests reducing bitrate.
- YouTube also recommends checking that the encoder is up to date, reviewing the stream in the encoder, checking encoder CPU load, and verifying outbound internet connectivity.

If YouTube is receiving a signal
Confirm that Live Control Room is showing the broadcast you intend to run, not another scheduled or active broadcast. Then inspect that broadcast’s setup and status in Studio. The presence of an incoming feed narrows the problem: IRL Pro is sending something to YouTube, but the feed alone does not establish that the selected broadcast is ready or live.
If this is your first time enabling live streaming on YouTube, YouTube says activation may take up to 24 hours. That is a first-time enablement qualification, not a general wait time for every inactive-broadcast error. YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder

When the message persists
The available documentation does not define the exact internal trigger for IRL Pro’s “YouTube broadcast is inactive” wording or map it to one universal YouTube state. If the checks above do not resolve the issue, contact Enhanced IRL through dashboard Support or at [email protected]. Include your plan, encoder, protocol, exact message, and IRL Pro app version.
