Check Petra’s current in-game offerings before setting out: the exact active challenge and live bounty text for October 4, 2026, are not established here, and Dreaming City content rotates.
Check Petra Venj’s current offerings
Visit Petra in the Dreaming City and read each bounty or quest before beginning. A historical Bungie Help forum reply by BNGHelp6, posted October 2, 2018, distinguished two weekly bounties—Ascendant Challenge completion and Blind Well completions—from separate quests for a story mission and daily-bounty completions (Bungie Help forum). That is useful context, not a guarantee of today’s inventory or wording.
Pick up Petra’s Dreaming City bounties in the game. Bungie says they are not available through the Destiny Companion app’s mobile bounty-purchase feature; acquired bounties appear in the Director’s Quest tab (Bungie Help: Items and Bounties).
Choose the bounty that matches your goal
| Path | What you do | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Ascendant Challenge bounty | Find and complete the current rotating Ascendant Challenge. | The bounty is tied to a weekly location; check its text and clue. |
| Gateway Between Worlds | Complete Blind Well activity runs as specified by the current bounty. | It is not a substitute for the Ascendant Challenge bounty when that specific objective is required. |
The activity descriptions and bounty relationship above are documented in community reference material, while the vendor categories cited above come from a 2018 forum reply. Use Petra’s live bounty counter and reward description rather than assuming an old objective count or reward remains unchanged (Destinypedia: Gateway Between Worlds; Destinypedia: Ascendant Challenge).

Complete the Ascendant Challenge bounty
- Pick up the current bounty from Petra. Read its full objective and the Toland quotation; the quotation can hint at that week’s challenge location.
- Use a Tincture of Queensfoil. This in-game consumable reveals the Ascendant portal. The Ascendant Challenge is a rotating weekly Dreaming City activity (Destinypedia: Ascendant Challenge).
- Enter the portal and finish the challenge. Open its reward chest, then check the bounty counter to confirm completion.
If the bounty does not progress
Compare the bounty’s location clue with the challenge you completed. A 2019 Bungie forum response reported that weekly bounties correspond to particular locations and may not match a challenge if carried over from the previous week. The responder advised discarding the stale bounty and acquiring the newly offered one; treat this as historical community troubleshooting and verify against Petra’s current bounty before discarding anything (Bungie Help forum).
Complete Gateway Between Worlds
Gateway Between Worlds is the Blind Well-related bounty path. Follow the current bounty’s stated completion counter, then check the reward shown on it. Community reference material associates the bounty with an Offering to the Oracle, but rely on the current in-game reward display for what it will grant (Destinypedia: Gateway Between Worlds).

Distinguish challenge reward chests from Ascendant Chests
An Ascendant Challenge’s final reward chest is not necessarily an “Ascendant Chest” for a separate Dreaming City chest-collection Triumph. In a July 2026 Bungie forum discussion, a responder explained that the Triumph in question counted Ascendant Chests found around the Dreaming City, with groups associated with curse state—not the challenge’s reward chest (Bungie Help forum). Read the Triumph’s full name and objective before repeating an activity; a chest can be valid for one reward and irrelevant to another.
