What did the playtester-related report claim?
On April 12, 2025, Insider Gaming reported claims from a Reddit user named Bigbyy, who said an NDA-covered YouGov study session had described features planned for upcoming games. The user said the session was a survey, not a playtest, and attributed these possible details to a new Prototype game:

These are claims attributed to the Reddit user, not confirmed game features. Insider Gaming said it had not fully verified the account and advised waiting for further verification or an official Activision announcement. A Steam fan post repeated similar wording, but it is evidence of how the rumor circulated—not independent confirmation.
Do the PC credit changes mean a new game is coming?
No. On October 1, 2025, Push Square reported that PC versions of the existing Prototype games received patches that changed their end credits. The updated credits referred to work on Ubisoft Connect versions and named Activision studios Beenox and Demonware, as well as Iron Galaxy Studios.

Those changes prompted speculation about a remaster or remake. Push Square cautioned that they were not conclusive proof. Credit changes can indicate maintenance or port-related work, but the reported changes do not establish that a new entry, remake, or remaster is in development.
What did New Radical Games have to do with the speculation?
In February 2026, PC Gamer noted that New Radical Games described itself as a fusion of Radical Entertainment—the original Prototype studio—and Hothead Games. The outlet connected the studio’s new website and the earlier PC update to the possibility of a remaster, while also acknowledging that the signs might mean nothing.

That was speculation by an outlet, not an announcement from New Radical Games or Activision that it was working on Prototype.
What is the latest reported development status?
On April 5, 2026, TweakTown reported that Xbox insider Jez Corden said on the XB2 podcast: “There is no Prototype game currently in development at all whatsoever as of right now. April 2026, there is no Prototype game in development.” TweakTown also reported Corden’s view that the sources behind the earlier rumor were not authentic and that legacy support might be the most fans could hope for.
