Yes—Shiny Regigigas is rare, but there is no single odds figure that applies in every game. In Pokémon Sword and Shield: The Crown Tundra, the fixed Regigigas encounter is reported at 1 in 4096 per encounter, and the Shiny Charm does not improve the Regis’ odds. In Scarlet and Violet, Regigigas is listed as obtainable by transfer from Pokémon HOME or through an event, not as a normal wild hunt.
What does “rare” mean for Shiny Regigigas?
Regigigas has a distinct shiny form, but the chance of obtaining one depends on the game and how that game makes Regigigas available. A shiny rate is a chance for each qualifying encounter, not a promise that one will appear after a particular number of attempts.
That distinction matters here: a general game-wide shiny rate does not automatically describe a specific Regigigas encounter. Fixed encounters, wild encounters, and Pokémon transferred from another game can have different circumstances and applicable boosts.

| Game | How Regigigas is available | What is established about shiny odds |
|---|---|---|
| Sword and Shield: The Crown Tundra | Fixed encounter after the Crown Tundra setup. | RotomLabs reports 1 in 4096 per encounter for the Regis; the Shiny Charm does not affect the rate. RotomLabs’ Crown Tundra shiny-hunting guide |
| Scarlet and Violet | Serebii lists Regigigas as obtainable by transfer from Pokémon HOME or through an event, rather than as a normal wild encounter. | The game’s general base rate is 1 in 4096, but that figure is not automatically Regigigas’ rate when transferred or obtained through an event. | Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl | Regigigas is found at Snowpoint Temple. | Serebii says the Shiny Charm does not affect wild encounter odds in these games. Do not count on the charm to improve this encounter. Serebii’s BDSP shiny guide · Pokémon Database’s Regigigas entry |
| Legends: Arceus | Not established here. | Regigigas’ shiny-lock status, hunt method, and exact odds are not sufficiently confirmed to give a reliable answer. |
How the Crown Tundra hunt works
In The Crown Tundra, Regigigas is a fixed encounter reached through the Regis’ setup. Smogon’s Sword/Shield Crown Tundra guide describes approaching the Regis and saving nearby to reset for another encounter. RotomLabs reports the Regis at 1 in 4096 per encounter and says the Shiny Charm does not change that rate.

#1 Best Overall
That is a per-encounter probability, not a countdown: 4096 attempts do not guarantee a shiny. The cited guidance concerns the fixed Crown Tundra Regi encounter; do not substitute shiny odds from Dynamax Adventures or assume wild-encounter boosts apply.

Serebii lists Regigigas in Scarlet and Violet as available by Pokémon HOME transfer or event. That does not make it a normal wild target for outbreaks, sandwiches, or other wild-encounter methods.

For context, Serebii gives the general Scarlet/Violet base shiny rate as 1 in 4096 and a standard Shiny Charm category of 3 in 4096 (about 1 in 1365.67). Those are game-wide rate figures, not a verified odds claim for every Regigigas arriving by transfer or event. Serebii also states that fixed encounters cannot be boosted by the Shiny Charm or Meal Powers; that rule is specifically about Scarlet/Violet, not the Crown Tundra encounter.

Does the Shiny Charm work on Regigigas?
- Crown Tundra in Sword/Shield: No. RotomLabs reports that the Regis’ 1-in-4096-per-encounter rate is unaffected by the Shiny Charm.
- Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl: The Shiny Charm does not boost wild encounters, according to Serebii’s BDSP guide.
- Scarlet/Violet: Regigigas is listed for transfer or event access rather than a normal wild hunt. General shiny-rate and charm figures should not be applied to a specific transferred or event Pokémon without evidence about its source and encounter.
