Yes. Active Matter supports cross-platform multiplayer between PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Console players can choose a same-platform queue, a consoles-only queue, or a queue that includes all supported platforms. Cross-play does not mean saved progress transfers between PC and console.
Which platforms can play together?
The official Active Matter FAQ confirms cross-platform multiplayer. Its supported platforms are PC through Steam or the Gaijin Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game launched on Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on September 15, 2026; the Gaijin Store is another PC option, according to the launch announcement.
In practical terms, players on those platforms can enter a shared multiplayer pool. The FAQ puts it simply: “Yes, we have cross-platform multiplayer.”
What cross-play matchmaking choices do console players have?
The FAQ describes three pool choices for console players. A developer Q&A published September 7, 2026 says they are separate queues that players must select or confirm in settings.

The available choices determine which platforms are included in the pool, not who will be available for a match at a particular time. Official sources do not publish comparative queue times, population figures, or enough information to say that one option is faster.
The developer Q&A says to select or confirm a queue in settings, but does not establish whether the choice can be changed mid-queue or whether it must be made again for every match.

Does cross-play affect input balance?
Official information establishes that PC and console players can share cross-platform multiplayer, but does not spell out how mixed-platform matches handle input devices or balance. It does not establish whether mouse-and-keyboard use is restricted, how aim assist works across platforms, or whether mixed matches are more or less competitive.
The FAQ says controllers are supported on PC. That confirms controller availability, not input-based matchmaking or parity between controller and mouse-and-keyboard players.

Does Active Matter have cross-progression?
Cross-play and cross-progression are different features: cross-play lets people on different platforms play together, while cross-progression makes saved progress available when moving between platform versions.
For progress transfers, the detailed FAQ says progress is shared between the Steam and Gaijin.Net versions on PC, but that PC progress cannot transfer to console. The official homepage and launch announcement use broader wording that says progress is shared “across all platforms,” which conflicts with the FAQ’s specific answer about PC-to-console transfer. Because the FAQ addresses that transfer directly, do not assume that a PC save will carry over to PS5 or Xbox.

What to check before choosing a queue or platform
- If you are on console and want to exclude PC, choose the consoles queue rather than all platforms.
- If you want the broadest platform pool, select all platforms in settings.
- If you are moving between PC storefronts, the FAQ says Steam and Gaijin.Net progress is shared.
- If you are moving from PC to console, the FAQ says progress does not transfer.
