What does it cost to start playing AION 2?
The base game is free to play, with no required purchase to begin, according to the AION 2 Official Launch FAQ, dated October 5, 2026. The global service is available on Steam and PURPLE. NC says both platforms share servers and in-game content; official PC support is for Windows.
The FAQ identifies optional membership, a Battle Pass, and paid cosmetics. It does not publish their current prices. Your local storefront is the place to check the price, currency, and applicable taxes before purchasing.

Is AION 2 subscription based?
No subscription is required to play the base game. The official FAQ describes the monthly membership as optional, and links it to access to the player-driven economy and currency exchanges. NC’s June 26, 2026 membership update says the prior structure was consolidated into one Special Quai Membership tier.

AION2 Hub’s July 2026 account of NC’s business-model notice reports a $15 monthly price and says the membership unlocks the Market and Kina-to-Quna Exchange, alongside other benefits. Because the official FAQ does not show the price or itemize the benefits, regard that amount as reported rather than a guaranteed current charge.
Is the Battle Pass required, and is it only cosmetic?
The Battle Pass is not listed as a requirement to play. NC confirms that a pass is part of the monetization model, while AION2 Hub reports a free Standard Track alongside a paid Premium Track. Its account says pass rewards can include cosmetics, items, upgrade materials, and currency, so it would be inaccurate to describe the reported rewards as cosmetics-only.

NC’s October 2026 FAQ names global servers in North America, South America, Europe, and Japan, with access through Steam and PURPLE. Those regional details concern the global service; they should not be conflated with NCSoft’s separate September 2025 announcement of a November 19 launch for Korea and Taiwan. Local prices and offers can depend on region and storefront, and the FAQ does not provide a single global price list.

NC’s September 2025 Korea and Taiwan launch announcement described “Memberships and Passes for convenience” and named costumes, weapon skins, pets, and wings as cosmetics. That earlier regional announcement helps identify the purchase categories, but it is not a current global price list.
