Yes. NCSOFT’s global launch FAQ says AION 2 is free to play, with an optional monthly membership. You can start without subscribing; the FAQ also lists paid cosmetics, a Battle Pass, and membership access to player-driven economy and currency-exchange features. It does not state the global membership price or fully detail its entitlements.
What does AION 2 cost to start?
The global game is free to play, and its monthly membership is optional, according to NCSOFT’s official launch FAQ. That means you do not need to buy a subscription just to begin. The FAQ does not establish that every feature is available without membership, however: it specifically associates membership with access to the player-driven economy and currency exchanges.
The same FAQ identifies optional paid cosmetics and a Battle Pass. It does not give current global prices, a complete list of membership benefits, or the Battle Pass rewards. Check the terms shown for your region and platform before making a purchase.
What does the membership unlock?
NCSOFT describes membership as a way to access the player-driven economy and currency exchanges. The global FAQ does not explain which specific transactions or economy functions require membership, whether there are exceptions, or how the membership works in each region. It also does not publish a global price or duration beyond calling it monthly.

Regional announcements should not be mistaken for global terms. In a September 2025 announcement about the Korea and Taiwan launch, NCSOFT described memberships and passes as convenience offerings and listed costumes, weapon skins, pets, and wings as cosmetics. It also said players could exchange in-game currency for premium currency. Those were launch-era descriptions for those services, not a full statement of current global entitlements. Is AION 2 pay to win?
The available global FAQ is not enough to give a reliable yes-or-no verdict. It names cosmetics, a Battle Pass, and membership-linked economy and currency-exchange access, but does not explain whether paid content changes character power, progression speed, or competitive access. The monetization categories alone do not establish how spending affects gameplay outcomes.
Where and how can you play the global version?
NCSOFT’s FAQ lists Steam and PURPLE on Windows PC as supported platforms. It says both use the same servers and have the same in-game content. The listed server regions are North America, South America, Europe, and Japan. The FAQ does not list an officially supported console or mobile version.

Interface and subtitle languages listed are English, French, German, Spanish (Spain), Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Japanese, and Korean. Listed voice-over languages are English, Japanese, and Korean. Controller play is possible, but the FAQ says controllers are not officially supported.
You can play solo or with friends, according to the FAQ. Progress from the Korea and Taiwan versions does not carry over to the global version.

When did the global service launch?
The official AION 2 Japan-facing site gives the global launch date as October 5, 2026. Its launch page advertises two free mounts for eligible accounts created by December 2, 2026, with claims due by December 9, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. JST. Eligibility and deadlines are time-sensitive, so check the official AION 2 launch page for the terms that apply before relying on the offer.
