Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched on Nintendo Switch 2 on December 2, 2025. Ubisoft and Nintendo both list that release date, so this is no longer a rumored or upcoming port.
Is Assassin’s Creed Shadows coming to Switch 2?
It already came out. Ubisoft announced the Switch 2 launch for December 2, 2025, and Nintendo’s German product listing gives the same release date.

What is different about the Switch 2 version?
Ubisoft describes touchscreen controls for navigating menus, maps, the in-game store, and the hideout. The game can also be played offline after installation. Nintendo notes that online functions require an internet connection and a Ubisoft account, so downloading and using online features are distinct from offline play.
Ubisoft’s stated performance target
Ubisoft says it targeted 30 frames per second in both handheld and docked modes. That is the developer’s target, not an independently verified claim that performance is locked at 30 fps in every situation. Ubisoft says handheld mode uses lower image quality, draw distance, and level-of-detail settings than docked mode; docked mode supports HDR.

In its technical explanation, Ubisoft says it adapted the game’s code and simulation for Switch 2 hardware, used baked global illumination rather than ray-traced global illumination to manage memory, and adjusted level of detail, draw distance, texture resolution, loading, and NPC density. These are Ubisoft’s descriptions of its porting approach, not results from independent performance testing.
Does progress carry over between platforms?
Ubisoft says cross-progression is supported through Ubisoft Connect. Purchased store items are shared across linked platforms, but Helix Credits themselves do not transfer between platforms.

Does the physical edition include the full game on the card?
No. Ubisoft describes the physical edition as a game-key card: the card provides a digital key to download the complete game. Nintendo’s German listing also says a complete download is required, so the physical card does not contain the full game data.
How large is the download?
Nintendo’s German product listing gives a download size of 69.0 GB. That is a regional listing figure, not a guaranteed worldwide or permanent file size; download requirements can change.

What content and updates are available on Switch 2?
At launch, Ubisoft said the Switch 2 version would include then-released post-launch content such as New Game+, enhanced parkour, and Nightmare difficulty. The launch announcement described the Claws of Awaji expansion as excluded initially and planned for a later 2026 release; that announcement alone does not establish its current Switch 2 availability.
Ubisoft later announced a final update featuring Black Tides, described as an approximately two-hour story capper, and Domains, five challenge maps with modifiers and rewards. The platform list in that update announcement does not include Switch 2, so it does not confirm that this specific update reached the Switch 2 version. Check a current Switch 2-specific announcement or patch record for the status of later content.
Where can you play it besides Switch 2?
Ubisoft’s port article also identifies PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC storefronts, Mac, and Amazon Luna among the other platform options. Platform availability and later update support can vary; the platform list in a particular update announcement should not be treated as a complete, current catalog.
