Some Xbox players reported that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Photo Mode’s editing menus disappeared, but those reports date to 2021 and do not establish that the current Xbox version has the same problem. Ubisoft documented several Photo Mode fixes, including a control-conflict fix related to Swap Sticks, but its published notes do not confirm a fix for this exact disappearing-menu symptom.
What the Xbox reports describe
Two player reports from 2021 describe different problems that can sound similar. An Xbox One player said Photo Mode settings became invisible while changing them, although adjustments seemed to register. Another player said edit menus disappeared while using the D-pad and also mentioned photos remaining on a saving indicator. These accounts are anecdotal; they do not show that every Xbox player was affected or that the reports share one cause.
To describe what is happening on your console, note whether the menus vanish as soon as you enter edit mode or only after D-pad navigation. Also check whether the sliders still respond and whether the problem is instead limited to saving a photo or viewing online map photos.
What Ubisoft’s update notes say
Title Update 1.1.2
Ubisoft’s Title Update 1.1.2 notes list Photo Mode fixes for frame scaling, terrain rendering while moving the camera, and control conflicts when the Swap Sticks option was enabled. The control-conflict fix makes Swap Sticks worth checking, but Ubisoft does not say that this update fixed edit menus disappearing.

Title Update 1.0.4
Ubisoft’s Title Update 1.0.4 notes describe other Photo Mode fixes: filter behavior, a temporary Online Service Error when viewing photos on the map, and Snow FX centering on the camera. These are separate issues, not confirmation that the Xbox edit-mode interface symptom was resolved.
What to try on Xbox
-
Check the in-game Swap Sticks option and note whether it is enabled. Test Photo Mode controls again after changing the setting, if appropriate for your normal controller setup. This is a low-risk diagnostic check, not a confirmed workaround for disappearing menus.

If the menus still vanish, contact Ubisoft Help through its technical troubleshooting route. Include your Xbox model, game version, the exact button sequence that triggers the issue, and whether settings visibility, slider movement, saving, or all three are affected.
Is it a current, confirmed Xbox bug?
The available evidence does not establish whether the problem is still present on current Xbox builds, whether a reliable workaround exists, or whether it affects a particular Xbox model. Ubisoft’s reviewed troubleshooting page offers general technical help rather than a specific Photo Mode edit-mode fix. The 2021 reports should therefore be treated as historical player accounts, not proof of a current outage or diagnosis.
