As of October 4, 2026, Astonishia Story is not out yet: Nintendo’s US listing gives a February 11, 2027 release date. It is listed as Nintendo Switch software supported on Switch 2, with behavior consistent with the Switch version—not as a dedicated Switch 2 Edition or an enhanced upgrade. If you like the described retro-style RPG and are comfortable buying before reviews, it may suit you; if combat quality, performance, pacing, or value will decide, wait for post-release reviews and testing.
What kind of game is Astonishia Story?
The publisher describes Astonishia Story as an updated version of a classic Korean RPG. Nintendo’s US listing presents a story about Lloyd von Reuental pursuing a stolen relic, recruiting allies, and fighting in grid-based battles, with an Elven Queen and an ancient god part of the story. That is the publisher’s description, not independent confirmation of how the game plays or how well its systems work. Nintendo’s product listing
The available description points toward a single-player, retro-styled RPG with tactical, grid-based encounters. It does not establish combat depth, campaign length, pacing, translation quality, or accessibility.
Does the Switch version work on Switch 2?
Yes. Nintendo labels the game as Nintendo Switch software and marks it “Supported – Game behavior is consistent with Nintendo Switch.” That confirms compatibility, but it does not establish a separate Switch 2 version, improved graphics, faster loading, higher frame rates, or other enhancements. Should you preorder or wait for reviews?
Consider it now if the premise and edition fit you
A preorder may make sense if you already enjoy retro-styled single-player RPGs with grid-based battles, and you are comfortable judging the purchase from the publisher’s description rather than a finished-game review. The Special Edition may also appeal if its listed collectibles matter to you. Those are taste and contents considerations, not evidence that the combat or overall value is strong.
