What platforms can you play Backyard Baseball on now?
The new Backyard Baseball is out on Steam for PC and Mac. Steam lists its release date as July 9, 2026, and identifies Mega Cat Studios as developer and Playground Productions as publisher. That date confirms the Steam release, not a console launch. See the Steam listing.

Mega Cat Studios’ press kit lists PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch among the planned platforms, but that platform list does not establish that console versions are available or set their launch dates. It also marks Switch as “TBA.” View the studio press kit.
What is the console release date?
No firm console release date is established by the official site, studio press kit, or reviewed store listing. The official homepage points console players to sign up for updates rather than giving a launch date. As of October 7, 2026, the best-supported description is that console editions are pending a confirmed date.

A PlayStation Store listing reviewed for Mexico labels the game announced and gives its release date as to be determined. Was August 18 the console release date?
Not according to the update reproduced in an August 6, 2026 Reddit post: it said August 18 on console store pages was a placeholder date, not a confirmed launch. The same reproduced update described online multiplayer on Steam as the next major milestone while console development continued. Because this is a community post reproducing an update, rather than a directly verified current official notice, August 18 should not be treated as the console release date. Can you try the game on Steam first?
The official game-pages site describes Backyard Derby as a free-to-play Steam demo. It is a demo, distinct from the full Backyard Baseball game released on Steam on July 9, 2026.
