EA says Battlefield 6’s Javelin anti-cheat blocked 277,649 cheat or tampering attempts through July 2026, while its tracking found disruption across 100 of 104 cheat-related programs and services. Those are meaningful signs of pressure on cheat makers, but they do not prove cheating is gone: EA’s own Match Infection Rate still counted matches affected by suspected cheaters, including cases where it did not have enough evidence to ban anyone.
What EA’s latest anti-cheat numbers show
In an update published September 4, 2026, EA reported 277,649 cheat or tampering attempts prevented before they affected matches. It also said 100 of 104 tracked cheat-related programs, hardware solutions, vendors, resellers, and communities were reporting failures, detections, downtime, or taking cheats offline. EA described that as a sign its anti-cheat work is disrupting the cheating ecosystem.
These are publisher-reported figures, not an independent audit. The blocked-attempt total is not a count of unique cheaters banned, and a disrupted service does not mean every user of it was caught. The service tally reflects what EA tracks and reports; it is evidence of pressure, not a direct measure of how many matches are now clean. EA’s July 2026 anti-cheat update provides the figures and its explanation.
Is Battlefield 6 full of cheaters?
EA’s Match Infection Rate (MIR) offers a view of match impact, but it is easy to misread. EA defines MIR as the percentage of matches negatively affected by at least one cheater. It includes suspected cheaters even when EA lacks enough evidence to enforce a ban, so it is not the percentage of matches containing a player EA has definitively proven was cheating.

EA’s revised July 2026 series began at 4.62%, peaked at 5.74% from July 13 through July 15, fell to 4.86% on July 20, and stood at 4.76% at month-end reporting. Those values describe EA’s reported metric; they do not mean that the same share of players cheated.
Why the MIR figures changed
EA revised the MIR method after reports against legitimate high-skill players—particularly players who spend a lot of time in vehicles—were inflating the measure. EA says the updated approach considers whether a frequently reported player also triggers other anti-cheat signals and whether repeated manual reviews clear that player. It has not published the precise calculation, so the July series should not be directly compared with older MIR figures as if the methodology were unchanged.

Is Javelin anti-cheat working?
The available figures support a qualified yes: EA reports blocking attempts before they affect matches and describes widespread disruption among tracked cheat-related services. That suggests the system is creating costs for cheat users and providers. But “working” does not mean “cheat-free.” MIR still registered suspected match impact, and EA described cheat communities as continuing to adapt. The public updates do not independently verify EA’s metrics or establish the overall experience of every player.
Does Battlefield 6 require TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, HVCI, or VBS?
EA said strict enforcement of TPM 2.0 began on August 31, 2026, after work with hardware manufacturers on compatibility issues. In its August 28 update, EA said HVCI and VBS were requirements listed for the game but were not yet being enforced. EA had not decided whether future enforcement would apply to everyone, selected suspicious accounts, ranked play, or official and sponsored tournaments.
Requirements and enforcement can change. Check EA’s current Season 4 anti-cheat update and any compatibility warning shown for your system before changing firmware or security settings. EA reported on August 28 that 98.76% of current players were already on hardware compliant with the requirements then being enforced; that was EA’s figure, not an independent hardware audit.

Can remapping software or a controller adapter get you banned?
EA says it assesses software and hardware based on whether they provide a competitive advantage, bypass anti-cheat checks, or create an attack vector. Its examples include tools that automate input or hide virtual devices, sound tools that reveal excessive location information, adaptive overlays, scripted-input hardware, and devices such as XIM, Cronus Zen, Strikepack, and Titan Two.
That does not mean every remapping app or controller adapter is prohibited. EA says products can differ in how they work, and some uses may be allowed. It explicitly says the Xbox Adaptive Controller, PlayStation Access Controller, and Steam Input are not prohibited. Check EA’s current compatibility warning or official list rather than relying on a workaround or assuming a device is permitted because another one is.

How to report suspected cheating—and what happens next
EA says in-game reports provide telemetry that helps investigations, but it requires clear evidence before issuing a cheating ban. Its rules cover aimbots, wallhacks, tools that disconnect servers, exploits, stat padding, and ranking manipulation. Intentionally playing multiple matches with confirmed cheaters to boost scores or complete challenges can also result in a ban.
