For easier helicopter flying in Battlefield 6, go to Settings > Gameplay > Vehicles and turn on Helicopter Control Assist. EA recommends starting with Helicopter Control Sensitivity at 100. Simplified controls steer the aircraft toward your camera direction; for manual flying, check the current in-game bindings because inputs can be remapped and EA does not publish a complete manual helicopter keybind table.
Turn on simplified helicopter controls
- Open Settings > Gameplay > Vehicles.
- Enable Helicopter Control Assist. This is separate from the airplane control-assist option.
- Set Helicopter Control Sensitivity to 100 as a starting point, then adjust it to suit your preference.
EA says simplified aircraft follow the camera direction and automatically handle pitch, yaw, and roll. Its vehicle guide recommends control assist for first-time helicopter pilots; EA’s Initiation Challenges guide also notes that Initiation versions of modes such as Conquest can make it more likely to get into a cockpit than standard multiplayer.
Simplified helicopter directions
EA lists these directions for simplified flight. Mouse movement can be used instead of the arrow keys on PC. If you have changed bindings, the game’s current Settings screen takes precedence.

These are simplified-flight directions, not a full manual-flight layout. EA’s guide lists aircraft weapon controls as Space or right mouse button on PC and RT/R2 on controllers, and weapon switching as F or middle-mouse scroll up on PC and Y/Triangle on controllers. Those are aircraft-level instructions, not a distinct helicopter-only mapping, so verify the relevant bindings in your game if you need exact helicopter actions.

Find manual controls and remap inputs
For manual pitch, yaw, roll, throttle, and weapon inputs, open the game’s Controls settings and inspect the Helicopter or vehicle bindings. EA confirms that controller and mouse-and-keyboard vehicle actions can be remapped, but its published vehicle guide does not provide a complete manual helicopter mapping. Avoid relying on a third-party layout as a universal default: your displayed bindings are the source of truth.

Choose a helicopter sensitivity
EA’s vehicle guide lists Helicopter Control Sensitivity: 100 as its baseline recommendation. It also says the best settings depend on personal preference; 100 is a starting point, not a universally optimal value. Make small adjustments and test one at a time. AllThings.How’s practical advice is to look for a setting where small inputs track smoothly without overshooting; that is a third-party suggestion, not an official numeric rule.

Take off and climb
Build lift with throttle, then add a small forward pitch. Avoid combining several large control inputs at once, so you can see how the helicopter responds.
Make a short strafing pass
Approach offset from your target, use a modest bank, and keep the pass short. Climb or move away afterward rather than trying to hold a difficult position while learning.

Brake with a flare
Ease off forward pitch, pitch up smoothly, and use throttle to catch any loss of altitude. Practice clear of obstacles while learning how the aircraft responds.
Recover from an awkward attitude
Level the rotor orientation, restore lift, then correct heading and forward movement gently. Make a small correction, wait for the response, and add another axis only if needed; rapid opposing inputs can make it harder to settle the aircraft.
