A hidden-text interpretation in BioWare’s N7 Day 2025 post sent fans to an old Mass Effect 3 multiplayer event page, prompting speculation about Mass Effect: Legendary Edition. But the post explicitly said there was “no secret game information” to glean from it, and the collection launched without Mass Effect 3 multiplayer.
What was the N7 Day clue?
On November 7, 2025, BioWare executive producer Mike Gamble published the studio’s annual N7 Day message. He said the next Mass Effect game was in development and that BioWare and EA remained committed to the series. Some readers noticed intermittently italicized text in the post and, as PC Gamer reported, combined it into the phrase “URL Krogan N7.”
Appending that phrase to the BioWare post’s URL redirected readers to a BioWare blog entry dated March 16, 2012, titled “N7 Challenge Weekend – Operation: Goliath.” The destination was a real old multiplayer event post; the theory that it hinted at a new release was an interpretation of the formatting and redirect, not an announcement. BioWare’s N7 Day 2025 post and PC Gamer’s report describe the clue and its context.
What did the 2012 page say?
The archived “Operation: Goliath” post announced an online Mass Effect 3 challenge weekend with community and squad objectives. BioWare introduced it as “the very first N7 Challenge Weekend,” offering the community a special multiplayer mission and in-game perks. It described an event for Mass Effect 3 in 2012; it did not mention Legendary Edition or a future multiplayer release. Read BioWare’s archived challenge announcement.

What did BioWare actually say about hidden information?
Gamble addressed fans looking for secret meaning and concluded: “there is no secret game information to be gleaned by anything I’m saying today, I promise.” That is the clearest official context for the N7 post. The redirect may have sparked discussion, but the post itself cautioned readers not to treat its contents as a hidden game announcement. BioWare’s full statement is available on its blog.
Does Mass Effect: Legendary Edition include multiplayer?
No. The collection’s launch-era contents were Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3, but not Mass Effect 3 multiplayer. GameSpot’s February 3, 2021 guide said BioWare focused on the single-player experience and adjusted Galactic Readiness balance for that context. The sources cited here provide no announcement of a later multiplayer addition. GameSpot’s launch-era guide covers the collection’s contents.

How to read the rumor
| What readers found | What it establishes |
|---|---|
| Intermittent italics interpreted as “URL Krogan N7” | A clue fans connected to the post’s URL, as reported by PC Gamer; not an explicit announcement. |
| Redirect to “N7 Challenge Weekend – Operation: Goliath” | A March 16, 2012 BioWare post about a Mass Effect 3 multiplayer event. |
| Gamble’s N7 Day disclaimer | BioWare said there was no secret game information to glean from the message. |
| Legendary Edition’s launch-era contents | The collection included the three single-player games, without Mass Effect 3 multiplayer. |
The redirect’s destination is concrete; the proposed connection to restoring multiplayer is speculation. Nothing in the cited material confirms that BioWare plans to add multiplayer to Legendary Edition.
