Call of Duty: Warzone supports crossplay, so players on supported platforms can play together. To find a friend on another platform, sign in to an Activision account and use that friend’s Activision ID to add or invite them. Settings for limiting crossplay differ by platform, and the options Activision documents apply specifically to Warzone Ranked.
How to play Warzone with a friend on another platform
- Sign in to Activision accounts. Activision requires an account for online Warzone and says it supports crossplay and cross-progression. See Activision’s Warzone account registration guide.
- Find your friend in the Social or Friends area. Search for or enter their Activision ID to send an invite. The ID includes a display name and a unique identifier, which helps distinguish players who use the same name.
- Join the same party and choose a playlist both players can access. Playlist availability can vary; check the live game client if you do not see the same option.
Activision’s account guide was published in 2022, so menu wording may have changed. The account and Activision ID are the key pieces for connecting across platforms.
Can you turn crossplay off in Warzone?
It depends on the platform and playlist. Activision’s April 3, 2025 support article documents crossplay controls for Warzone Ranked, not a universal toggle for every Warzone mode. Its listed choices are:
- ON: Allow matchmaking with other gaming platforms.
- ON (CONSOLE ONLY): Allow matchmaking with other console platforms. Activision warns this may negatively affect matchmaking quality.
- OFF: Restrict Ranked matchmaking to the current gaming platform. Activision warns this will negatively affect matchmaking quality.
For the Warzone Ranked selector, Activision lists Options > Settings > Account & Network. Menu names and behavior may change, so check the current client if the path differs. The instructions are in Activision’s crossplay and cross-progression support article.

- Officially licensed Call of Duty Ghost figure: Heavy-duty PVC construction with sturdy black base holds gaming controllers, mobile phones, remotes, and more without tipping over during intense gaming sessions
Platform-specific limits
- Xbox consoles: Activision says Xbox system settings take priority over in-game settings.
- Xbox PC app: The article directs players to the Xbox PC app’s privacy settings to allow or block cross-network play.
- Steam and Battle.net: Activision says these launchers do not offer an in-game option to disable crossplay.
These details reflect Activision’s April 2025 guidance. They do not establish one setting that controls every platform and Warzone playlist.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Are Warzone crossplay platforms still supported?
Crossplay only helps if the platform can still access Warzone. Activision’s June 5, 2026 platform notice scheduled the end of Warzone service on PS4 and Xbox One for the end of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Season 06. It said those versions would remain playable through that endpoint, while new downloads would become unavailable starting June 4, 2026. The notice also says progression and content can continue on a current-generation console or PC with the same linked Activision account; some balances and content remain subject to platform-family rules. Because this is a live-service schedule, check Activision’s platform update for the latest status before relying on those consoles.
