Is Control free on Epic today?
For the October 1–8, 2026 giveaway period, the reported free games were Buried Stars and System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster, not Control, according to PC Gamer’s October 1, 2026 report. That report does not establish what Epic is offering after October 8, so it cannot confirm the offer on a later date. Epic’s Free Games page is the place to verify what is currently claimable.

How Epic’s weekly free-game offers work
Epic says it gives away a free game every week and advertises new free games on Thursdays for mobile and PC. The exact game and offer period can change, so use Epic’s support guidance and the live Free Games page rather than relying on an older giveaway headline.
What if you missed a free game?
Epic Support says, “Free promotions have a limited duration. To add the game to your library, you must claim it within the indicated period.” Missing that period does not guarantee another free claim opportunity; check the live listing for current promotions.

What Control is on the Epic Games Store
Epic’s listing identifies Control as a Windows base game developed and published by Remedy Entertainment, released August 27, 2019. It describes a single-player supernatural third-person action-adventure starring Jesse Faden, with supernatural abilities, modifiable loadouts and reactive environments. Epic displays a mature rating for blood, strong language and violence. The listing’s search result included a sale that ended September 17, 2026, so that past price is not evidence of a current sale or free offer. Check the live Control product page for its present availability and price.
