What prices did the Dollar General report give?
Polygon’s report, published and updated October 5, 2026, described the following approximate Dollar General prices. They are reported prices, not a guarantee of current pricing or local inventory. The cited secondary source lists $49.99 as the Elite Trainer Box’s claimed MSRP; that figure is not independently confirmed here as an official Pokémon MSRP.

Which coupons were reported, and what should you verify?
The October 5 report described two separate Dollar General offers: 25% off a toy purchase of $75 or more, reportedly through December 24, 2026, and $5 off a purchase of $25 or more on Saturdays, reportedly requiring a Dollar General account or the retailer’s app. The official offer terms were not readable in the available offer page, so do not assume Pokémon products qualify, that the offers can be combined, or that the dates and requirements remain current. Check the current terms in the myDG app or with Dollar General before relying on a coupon. How to check local price and stock before you go
- Check current terms: Open the myDG app and review the offer’s dates, eligible products, minimum spend, account requirements, and stacking rules.
- Contact the specific store: Ask whether the exact 30th Anniversary product is on hand and confirm its shelf price. The report cautioned that Dollar General’s website may misstate store stock, so an online stock indication alone is not dependable.
- Recheck at purchase: Confirm the price and coupon application at checkout. Local inventory and offer eligibility can differ from what a general report describes.
Does a low price mean the cards are counterfeit?
No. The reported Dollar General promotion and the risk of counterfeit products are separate questions. Pokémon Support warns that a pack priced dramatically below suggested retail is a serious warning sign, but price alone does not establish whether a product is genuine. What to do with a questionable product
- Compare the packaging with official Pokémon product images; differences can be a warning, not a definitive test.
- For cards or packaging you doubt, ask a local shop specializing in trading cards to evaluate them.
- Pokémon Support also notes that counterfeit cards can sometimes be seen through when held up to bright light. This is not a conclusive authenticity test.
A marketplace listing is not the Dollar General promotion: its seller, price, and authenticity risk may differ. Treat the seller and product as separate matters to verify.
