Humphries described the aim as making games that feel “very specific to the moment they are released” while not being “reflective of the exact world we live in.” He added: “We don’t want to be too specific about any particular person, event, movement or anything like that.” The explanation is about timing and creative specificity: production spans years, while the people and controversies dominating politics can change before a game reaches players.

That is the reason Humphries gave in the interview. Rockstar has not said that legal or defamation concerns are driving the choice.
What political satire will GTA 6 include?
Avoiding direct names does not mean avoiding politics. GTA 6’s fictional state of Leonida—Rockstar’s Florida-inspired setting—includes election signs, campaign robocalls, radio commercials and political talk shows. Humphries said Rockstar has built out the world with “all the characters and culture wars necessary to make it feel alive.” Coverage also describes the game’s satire as touching on conspiracy theories.

Humphries characterized the series’ approach as more than simply reflecting reality: “There is a big focus on not just holding up a mirror, but on making everything satirical, larger than life, and more grotesque.” The target is presented through fictional media, characters and exaggerated conflicts rather than confirmed real candidates or party labels.
Does GTA 6 mention Trump or MAGA?
No confirmed Trump or MAGA character, name or direct reference has been announced in the reporting about Humphries’ remarks. Some outlets interpret the political material through the lens of Trump-era US politics, but that framing is their analysis, not a statement attributed to Humphries. Whether any fictional politician resembles a real one—and how obvious such a resemblance might be—remains unknown.
