Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →No official cancellation of Dragon Age has been announced. The latest update is a former series producer’s view that another game may be difficult to get pitched: Mark Darrah said he does not know who at BioWare could take a new Dragon Age project to EA, and he suspects it would not happen soon. That is his assessment, not a decision announced by EA or BioWare.
What Mark Darrah said about another Dragon Age
In an interview with FRVR, as reported by Video Games Chronicle on July 27, 2026, Darrah discussed the challenges of pitching a new game based on an established EA property. VGC quoted him saying, “I have no concept of who could, would, possibly pitch [a new Dragon Age] at EA,” and, “I suspect that it wouldn’t happen for a variety of reasons.”
Darrah is a former BioWare veteran who spent 23 years at the studio and served as an executive producer on Dragon Age, according to VGC. His comments describe his expectations about whether someone might pitch a project; they do not establish that EA has rejected one or made a final decision about the series.
Is Dragon Age canceled or officially on hold?
No cancellation or confirmed next-game plan appears in the official EA and BioWare material cited here. Darrah’s remarks should not be read as an announcement that the franchise is canceled, permanently dormant, or barred from returning. They also do not establish a reason for any gap between releases.

VGC reported that BioWare is working on another Mass Effect game. That is relevant context, but the report does not establish that Mass Effect is the company-confirmed reason Dragon Age has no announced successor.
What is the latest Dragon Age game?
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the latest released entry identified in the reporting. EA announced its worldwide launch for October 31, 2024, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam, the EA app, and the Epic Games Store. BioWare described it as a single-player game with a new lead hero and seven companions in its June 6, 2024 title announcement.

This is news about a former producer’s forecast, not a new game announcement or cancellation notice. EA’s official Dragon Age news index lists Patch 5 release notes dated January 23, 2025 as its newest game update. That gives a dated patch reference, but by itself it does not prove that no later franchise announcement exists elsewhere.
