You can’t use Streamlabs Music in a YouTube stream now: Streamlabs discontinued the app in 2025. New users lost access when it was removed from the app store on March 6; existing users could use it only through the end of March. Streamlabs says it stopped working in Streamlabs Desktop on April 1, 2025. If you want music on a current stream, choose a service whose license covers YouTube live broadcasts and any archived video you plan to keep.
What happened to Streamlabs Music?
Streamlabs’ “Changes to Streamlabs Music” notice, published March 5, 2025 and updated August 30, 2025, says the app was removed from the app store for new users on March 6, 2025. Existing users retained access until the end of March, and the app stopped being available in Streamlabs Desktop on April 1, 2025. Old installation or player instructions are therefore not actionable.
Streamlabs says music previously used through the app remains DMCA-free in past recorded streams and YouTube uploads. That statement concerns music used through Streamlabs Music; it is not blanket permission for other tracks or services.
What can you use for music now?
Streamlabs currently lists Pretzel Rocks Music Player and Slip.stream as music options. These are product descriptions and access tiers, not proof that every track is cleared for every platform, country, archive, or monetization use. Review the current service and track-specific terms before going live.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Option | Availability described by Streamlabs | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Pretzel Rocks Music Player | Streamlabs describes a free player and an upgrade for more tracks. Its discontinuation notice describes a free basic library; individual-track interactive mode and playlist creation require premium. | Confirm the specific track’s YouTube live and archive rights, geographic scope, attribution requirements, and current plan terms. |
| Slip.stream | Streamlabs describes access for Streamlabs Ultra subscribers. Its current music page advertises over 600,000 “DMCA safe” tracks, a vendor claim, not an independently verified count or a guarantee for every use. | Check the applicable license for the chosen track, YouTube broadcasts, archived VODs, territories, and monetization. |
| YouTube Audio Library | YouTube recommends its Audio Library for copyright-safe music and sound effects. | Check the track’s stated conditions, including any attribution requirement, and whether they fit the way you will use it. |
For music from any other service, YouTube says to check its license because that determines where and how the music may be used. A “free” label or a credit in your description does not, by itself, establish permission.
Check music rights before you go live
- Confirm permission for the exact track. Make sure the license covers YouTube livestreaming, your territory, and your intended monetization. If you will leave the stream archive public, check that recorded-video use is also covered.
- Follow attribution and account conditions. If a license requires credit, a particular account tier, or other conditions, satisfy them as written. Streamlabs’ description of a music option is not a substitute for its applicable license.
- Keep a record of the terms. Save the track name and the license or service terms that applied when you used it. This can help you respond if a claim arises; it cannot guarantee that a platform will not flag the stream.
YouTube says it scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you; if the content continues, the stream may be interrupted or terminated. If you archive the broadcast, YouTube says Content ID claims on archived live streams are made after the live stream finishes. YouTube’s livestream terms also require creators to have necessary rights for live content, including music licensing rights.

How to let viewers request videos with Media Share
Media Share and Cloudbot are separate from the discontinued Streamlabs Music player. They let viewers submit public YouTube video links; they do not restore Streamlabs Music or make a submitted song copyright-safe. Use this workflow only for videos you are permitted to play on your broadcast.
- Enable Media Share: In the Streamlabs dashboard, enable the Media Share widget and choose whether submissions appear automatically or wait hidden for manual review.
- Set controls: Configure the queue and duration limits, along with request limits and other available playback controls. Review submissions before playing them if you want to screen content.
- Enable chat requests if desired: Enable the Cloudbot Media Share module, configure its preferences and commands, and enable the request command. Streamlabs’ current instructions say
!requestrequires a link. Queue, request-limit, volume, skip, and blacklist controls are available in the described setup. - Add the widget to your scene: In Streamlabs Desktop, add the Media Share widget as a source. In other streaming software, add its widget URL as a browser source.
Streamlabs’ detailed guide includes Twitch-specific moderation and setup material, so do not assume every Cloudbot feature described there is a YouTube integration instruction. Check the current Streamlabs setup for the controls available in your account.
