Yes—Riot has explicitly called Evelynn “a succubus demon.” The label appears in Riot’s 2017 champion redesign article; her current League of Legends profile describes her more broadly as a demon who lures and torments victims.
Why Riot calls Evelynn a succubus
In its October 13, 2017 redesign article, “Champ Insights: Evelynn”, Riot says: “New Eve is still a shadow assassin, but she’s also a demon. A succubus demon.” That is the explicit source for the succubus label.
The article explains that Evelynn imitates a human form to attract unsuspecting prey. She raises their hopes, then turns their exhilaration into torment. Riot also says she was born from the agony present in the most recent Rune War.
How her current champion profile describes her
Riot’s current Evelynn champion profile calls her a demon and describes her using a human female façade to lure victims. When her prey succumbs to her charms, she reveals her true form and takes pleasure in their pain.

The two descriptions are compatible: “succubus” is Riot’s specific archetype label in the 2017 redesign article, while “demon” is the broader term used on the current profile. The current profile does not itself use the word “succubus.”
What the label says about her character
Riot’s redesign article presents Evelynn’s seduction as part of how she hunts, not as a harmless charm. Narrative writer John “JohnODyin” O’Bryan says, “Evelynn feeds on happy people because she thinks they have more to give.” The article also quotes concept artist Gem “Lonewingy” Lim explaining that physical pain alone is not as satisfying to Evelynn as pain that is mental and emotional too.
